From what I understand by reading other posts at EQDiva old boards is that they add to skill, not act as an instrument.

Actually, they act as an instrument, not as a skill modifier. So, attach a wind augment to your breastplate and essentially you will always have a wind instrument equipped so that you don't have to equip one for invis. All of the augments have an instrument modifier, but most of them are lower than any mod you would get from an actual instrument. Still, better than nothing, especially if you are non-epic. yeah bard in my guild has it on some armour and it's just a normal instrument, but on her armour. Makes it easier for her to invis.

    LDoN Instrument Mod Augments

These augments count as an instrument modifier. There are currently four augments that can be purchased from the advetnure merchants: Gravestone of Dire Melodies | Type 3 | 220pts Mmc Wind Modifier 1.6 Limestone Shard of Battle Cries | Type 3 | 760 pts Guk Brass Modifier 1.8 Ore of Refined Harmony | Type 7 | 960pts Ruj Singing Modifier 1.4 Icy Shard of Resonance | Type 7 | 960pts Mir Stringed Modifier 1.4 ---- Seems to me that the Type 7 augmentations are largely useless because of their inferior modifier to that of our now not-so-difficult to obtain epic. I bought the Singing Modifier the day it was added and was sorely disapointed that an augment that cost me 960pts and had a recommended level of 65 was worse than my mid-fifties attainable epic. The Limestone Shard of Battle Cries, and maybe the Gravestone of Dire Melodies are not bad, since the former is equal in strength to our epic, and the latter is really not used for too many songs that the modifier has any effect on (more like a convenience so you don't have to dig around for a flute to invis). The type 7 augments are a total waste, especially the Icy Shard of Resonance; I can tell you I'm not going to spend 960 points and blow an augment slot I could use for HP just to give myself a little more HP regen from Chorus/Wind of Marr...and that is the only string song I use on a regular basis. Making them at least epic equivalent for their price would make me consider buying it, but I doubt it. I'll live without string, and if I really want the regen I'll toss on a lute or my epic.

    Re: LDoN Instrument Mod Augments

It will not stack, the higher mod will be used. However, that is an intersting idea. Adding a brass mod to drums, or vice versa, would virtually eliminate instrument swapping for most situations.

    Re: LDoN Instrument Mod Augments

Very intersting idea, or, for us that don't have epics, adding a percussion mod to the Troubador's mace so I could sell my Gem inlaid sword. I however, am 1 fight away from epicsville so I'm not doing anything until I get that baby. Sinfonian

    Re: LDoN Instrument Mod Augments

well, weapons take type 4 augs, and I dont see any type 4 instrument augs. Putting it on gear will still have the same effect though, so no big woop. It is nice to be able to have near epic mod augs for armor, it certainly will help those who cant get the epic. But the time it would take to get all those augs..... May as well DO the epic lol

    Re: LDoN Instrument Mod Augments

ok, the Augs are type 3, not 7.. How do I know.. I have one.. and it took me a while to get something with a type 3 slot to use it finally. I love it. I got the windstone from MMC... Now, I have to admit that my last 3 levels have all come from xp in LDoN, and I hadn't taken the time to re-max my instr. skills. Since adding this aug to a necklace I have seen my wind skill go up.. I love being able to be somewhere and just play invis song and it comes up without needing to swap out.

Epic > Augs... Better mod and the Proc is always nice when you are a replacement for a chanter
