    Re: glorius oddball groups

I have found it easier for me to do LDoN with no chanter in group. For some reason, they assist me on inc, and always mezz the mob I am pulling if I announce ads. I have 2 hotkeys set up Inc %t and ADDS ON PULL! Kill %t, mezz/root everything else. The chanters, most of the time, still seem to mezz my target.... If I am pulling, I just CC my own mess, I dont get upset if the monk breaks mezz once or twice before he remembers his assist key. Chanters however piss and moan every time a mezz is broke. The only thing I ever piss and moan about is when the damn tank follows me in on a pull, and messes up a fade. Oh and I did get pissed last night too. We had the adventure won (collect). There is a named on track, with my Map I can see exactly where it is. I tell the group we I can get us to it, and stay close to me. I start paci-ing in to the named. Picture this. I am standing in front of an open door, using third person view to see behind it. I have a mob next to me, on my side of the door, that I have pacid. I see two mobs on the other side of the door, and have one of them pacid, and am targtetting the third. The monk walks up to the mob I am next to and hits it, then walks up to me and feigns. The mob he hit gets on top of the mob on the other side of the door, waking it up. Then the monk says "I can pull it" .../cry... We clean up the 3 pull, kill em all, then the monk says he can pull the named to us. I ask him, can you gate adds back to spawn point? He says he can single pull it the named. I say ok, do you have a map, I have it on track, I will tell you what room it is in. He says no, he doesnt have the map. So I tell him where the mob is. He proceeds to start pulling EVERY MOB in between us and the named. Rather then try to explain, I decide to paci in and get the named myself. Not a problem getting to it. One narrow hall where I will get a mob aggrod, so maybe 2 or three adds on inc. So I HoS the named and start running. A mob hits me, I am stunned, take a couple k damage, and keep moving. No biggie, I am still over 50%, no need to fade yet till I am closer. I get to the last hall before my room and hit the fade button. At EXACTLY the same moment, the cleric's CH lands.... Yeah, Sapper the stealth single pulling hero just became the 6 add pulling group wiper. Me and the monk kept the named out in the cleared areas till the cleric could run back. Me, a necro and the monk (all feigned or faded and survived) killed the named with a half naked cleric spot healing as needed. Lesson learned? Always tell your group what you are doing. I shoulda known better, but I was pissed at the monk

Yea.. I always tell my group, if I'm pulling.. and if you see my hitpoints fall, and I'm not in the camp.. don't heal me.. let me die.. or wait till I'm in camp. before healing.. They seem to be surprized when I only bring one mob in when I'm at 50% health :lol

    Re: glorius oddball groups

Yeah, always tell your group. A must for bards doing multiple things. People think I must be anal or something because I start out all LDoNs with instructions... Instructions you say? We have done far more LDoNs than you why do we need instructions. Well these are them. /g Ok I'm pulling, so everyone stay behind me at all times when pulling. /g As I'm pulling, the MA assists me and everyone else assists the MA (duh). /g MA, please assist me as soon as you see my Inc message so you don't get the wrong mob when I start mezing. /g Finally, casters, I will be playing 15% DD (don't have muse yet) damage uplift and manasong in combat so please stay in range. Now most folks read that and we go on our merry way and win surprisingly easily. EVERY once in a while, I get a slow assist tank that messes up my CCing (I start CCing before I reach camp to allow for easy piling of mobs when I'm pulling adds on purpose), and they end up breaking mez and we lose tons of hps collectively as I run around chasing mobs to target the new mob to mez. I have yet to use fade on a pull, but it has come in handy to save a wipe. Then again on collections it's rare to find 6 mobs in a room, most I see is 4 and even then they are not all in aggro range or I get at least one lulled before I get aggro from hidden mobs. Thanks for the story Sapper, your point definitely hit home! Sinfonian

    Re: glorius oddball groups

I'm glad you mentioned the whole tank following you into the room to mess up your Lull process. I was in Tak lastnight and as we all know tak doors suck. There was this ranger and cleric duo in the group that were both real winners. The ranger insisted on walking up to every door, turning around and waiting for me to pull through it. However no less than 5 times she would stand right ON the door and agro everything in the next room right after I had lulled the ONE mob on this side of the door. Second part of the story...her boyfriend (the idiot cleric) was the looter (this was a collect so that's rather important, no?) well he kept *not* looting even after multiple msgs in group saying that there were bodies behind us. Then He would just sit there and only healed with CH..... CH don't help no one when you are pulling a caster. I died because a caster I had pulled double dotted me and lifetapped me a good one before he could finish casting CH, then the cleric got mad that he got agro right after that. The cleric was sooooo inefficient that my friend (the tank, warrior) was healing himself with his cobalt bp more than the cleric was. After that death I ended up charm pulling all casters, which is a silly waste of time on a high pressure collect. Sorry I had to b!tch somewhere  So anyway if you are on povar and around my level send me a tell and I'll pass on the names of these to look out for, they also looted a couple of nodrops without warning.

    Re: glorius oddball groups

Sounds like we should create a thread for useless pick-up groups. I have had my share - like the cleric who tanked then said he was OOM. The shadowknight who decided he should pull a side room while I was pulling. The shaman who refused to back up heal and gated in the middle of the mission. The list goes on and on. It is so nice to hear about odd combinations that succeed - it gives me hope :)

    Re: glorius oddball groups

I find that its the odd combinations that usually work. For some reason whenever im in an oddball group everyone is a bit more cautious. Its the groups that have a cleric chanter warrior me and DPS that always seem to get in trouble. Maybe thats just my luck. My favorite group so far has been a necro, mage, beastlord, druid, myself and a warrior. I was the only death during that adventure, and that was because I told them to let me die when I saw 8 mobs running at me down a hall in Tak when lull failed.

Yeah Khords, it is that paying attention and being careful that gets the job done. If only every class paid attention and tried to maximize themselves the way a good bard does....

    Re: glorius oddball groups

I just got LDoN yesterday and decided to do some. I completed 4 dungeons and didn't lose any :D . Anyways, the first oddball group, at least I thought it was, was a RL friend 52 Paladin, another 52 paladin, a 54 shaman, a 56 warrior, a 54 ranger, and me (a 51 bard). We did a collection and we collected all 25 with 45-50 minutes left. Since it was my first time, my friend pulled to show me how (with his paladin). So I tried pulling the same way he did, most of the time I got doubles because I couldn't see the second one  . Anyways, I did 2 dungeons with that group and the second group was me and the two paladins still, another shaman that was 52, a 52 wizard, and a 51 magician. We, again, flew threw this dungeon with about 50 minutes to spare both times (did 1 slaughter and 1 collection). I maybe pulled about 10 singles my whole time pulling :p , so I had to mez, haste, overhaste, AND slow because the shaman wanted to conserve mana for heals... I think we did real well because the paladins could both heal for about 450, which is about 10% of both of their health.

Three Paladins, a necro, a chanter and me in MM ripped through the dungeons a couple of times last night. It wasn't even a contest.

    Re: glorious oddball groups

This weekend, Me, a cleric, and 4 Beastlords tore 2 normal LDoNs up. I just sang muse, mana, and twisted MoM and Denons Bereavement. No CC at all, I pulled 4 and 5 mobs at a time, the BLs all picked one and pretty much tanked them. My DOT/SLOW/MR Debuff and melee wasnt enough to get me aggro once the BLs attacked, so I didnt need much healing. The cleric meleed a lot more then he healed heh. Very nice group, the DPS was great, and we smoked our adventures.

    Re: glorious oddball groups

I was in POI with a Monk, two druids, cleric, enchanter and myself (53 bard). We didnt do great but it worked. The biggest problem was the chanter slow or debuff generated too much agro. I tried to counter by mezzing repeatedly and dotting once the chanter got agro.

I do hard ldons and my primary group is warrior, mage, wizard, shaman, druid, and me. I have had people tell me that it is suicide to try hard without a cleric but that's just silly.

    Re: glorious oddball groups

I did a MM LDON last night with a Cleric, Mage, Necro, 'Chanter, Ranger and me, I was highest level at 51, Ranger was lowest at 44. I was puller, and also MT when the Ranger asked me what my AC was and I had 200 better at 1050 :D . Anyway, it was a normal collect, and we were in and out in about 40 min, with no named up. A funny thing, adding MT to pulling, I was a LOT more nervous about pulling adds for some reason... Badji 51 Bard Ay-Ro

    Re: glorious oddball groups

I had to share this group even though its not bard related it is ldon related :) Well I was on my shadowknight lastnight for the first time in many months, our group was all guildies and it was an odd combo, 4 healers, a ranger and an SK. We had no real crowd control and not a lot of dps as the ranger was tied for lowest level at 48. so the 4 healers were a druid, 2 shaman (one the other lvl 48) and a cleric. We used the , "assist me and pac this one" method of pulling. The cleric hadn't done a lot of pacifying before and I had tons of experience from being a bard of course. So I just chose all the targets and she pacified. If we got resists and trained ourselves, the healers just healed eachother while I kept as many on me as possible. It wasn't the most efficient group, but man was it fun.
