Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

They bitch about a statless invis item, but dont do squat about guilds using sploits to slow every mob in game :) How Gimp! I usually do this kind of events late at night, since Gms disappear rather quickly once the sun goes down. Just select a new time to maintain the camp. This tactic is nearly 3 years old. If they can't learn to program better , f#&@ em.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

I did this just last night and it worked fine for me. No interference by a GM either. I'm level 56, and I didn't have a problem at all. Two things that I was worried about ended up not being a problem. First I was worried about getting my resist song up without getting aggro which wasn't a problem. Just back off turn on the resist song, then move up 'til you can play your mez song on Katcha. The other thing I was worried about was getting rid of the caller once I had the mobs chasing after me. What ended up happening is that Katcha killed him after mez wore off since when leaving my aggro wore off too. It took me a second to figure out why Katcha was only at 91% health when he ran up the hallway at me. No roots landed on me, and I was knocked down to about 75% health by the healers that blasted me. I twisted in my healing song as I ran around the village, and was at full health before I faced Katcha. Once he made it to the village and all his buddies were dead, I just charmed him and took him back down to the bowl. He hit me with a DD or two, but he was mostly out of mana from his fight with the caller. This ended up being much easier than I thought it would be and only took about an hour and a half to complete. I do have Run1, but I don't think it would have been a factor, a couple of jumps would put me far enough ahead to keep from getting beat on.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

"Just as a warning to potential guide followers, I spent a few hours August 5th working this event to get my cloak. Picked up a couple of nice tidbits but no cloak. However, I was contacted by a game admin and was informed that this is considered an exploit and that it is bannable. Naturally I quit at that point and will go back soon with a group and fight it "the old fashioned way"." This wasn't long before the OoW expansion, anyway, I just tried the caller quest the other day, post-oow, and they were outrunning me like a high schooler outruns a toddler. I have run 3 and used lev and pulled two times, both from max distance. I've done the pulls about 15-20 times before this, and i didn't stand a chance, they were much faster than me. anyone else tried it lately? I am really sorry to see this productive semi-afk use of time hit the history books

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

Spent about 3 hours messing around with the Caller quest post OoW and on my server, Xegony, there have been no changes to mob run speed that you mention. I didn't bother with lev and have run3 and the only time they catch me is due to my error when swarming the area. So perhaps you maybe the victim of lag that night.

I was going to give this a try, but dont have access to Alla to get info on quest from work. Where do you buy the bottles from and about how much do they cost?

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

I think original post has location. To re-state it, they can be bought by the npc at the first village in FG, a NPC there sells them (looks like a goranga, not the human village). Anyone ever seen the callers "out of place" several times I've seen them chilling at EC zone line lol.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

Thanks whomever bumped this...the guide worked very well. Took three Katcha's to get the cloak and about 3 hours. I think if I had to do again I would get 2 callers going to speed things up, but 1 was fine as well. I think reverse charming would work fine here as well if a GM bugs you. I'm not sure which charm would be required 38/64 b/c they were green to light blue (47+). I could never really get Katcha solo without a few trips to the village so I ended up charming the adds and swaming katcha and the adds down. edit: though it is 1.5 casting time it is self, so pretty nice compared to the gob gaz ring. I also like to invis when pulling at times and though the duration is short, it is plenty long for pulling...sooo happy I don't have to kill pets anymore.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

I came here for a few hours one day and gave one bottle to the caller. I watched all the mobs spawn for 2-3hours then gave up for the night. Tonight however, I did not feel like wasting any time. I bought 4 kegs and handed them to the caller at once but not stacked. I sat and watched as 12 mobs at a time popped every 2.5 mins. About 3 named popped in 30mins, but none of them were Katcha so i let them live. About 1 hour in, Katcha popped and I Snare/Chant'd him down in a few minutes and he dropped the cloak! :) Thank you very much for sharing your information! :)

Thanks for the guide. Gave 3 bottles to one caller and had the named pop in about an hour and he dropped it. The whole strat worked like a charm.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

Yes, a big thanks for the guide. I did it a bit differently, but still owe a lot for the information. I gave one bottle to the three callers aggroed them then invised in the middle of the room. About 2 hours later, Kacha spawns outside the cave. Instead of messing with the other mobs, I mezzed Kacha and pulled him to the ramp at the village, then faded. This stopped the cycle from giving more adds. Then I charmed one of the villagers and meleed Kacha down. Instant cloak.

Re: Guide to acquiring a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night

Great guide, did mine over the weekend. I started slow, 1 bottle to Groo and Murkin and waited for about 2 hours no Katcha. Stepped it up on the next 2 hour session with 2 bottles to them and no joy. Finally I gave 2 kegs to them and he popped about 20 minutes into the session. I came close to blowing it because he popped at the end of one of the tunnels and sat there buffing himself for 2-3 minutes, I got impatient and ran down to find him getting whacked on the way. In the end it was pretty easy, just time consuming and could be done in the 50's with no trouble.
