Last night I ran around got the invoice, turned in for the doll, turned into the note to daddy and then went to give the note to Maligar. Killed his punk-ass buddys and healed back up to full. Charmed him, and the doppleganger spawned. Quick digression: I am only level 50 and was too lazy to go get a virtue or any other buffs before I decided to solo this guy. So clearly I'm not bright. Anyway, when he spawned I had the MR psalm up (which I now know is a mistake) and tried to fear kite the dude. For the most part, fear was sticking and chains was resisted only a few times. In the three or four times fear did break, however, I learned how Ving Rhames felt in Pulp Fiction. He got both his poison and disease dots on me multiple times, rooted me and nuked me. I had him down to 25% before he got both dots on me and I could not heal myself fast enough and died, just like his helpless little stepdaughter. Oh well, I will get that sick fatricidal pederast tonight. Here is the new plan. Get virtue and shammy buffs. Play purifying rythems until fear and snare lands. Fear kite with chains and Jonathons. I don't want to get a bunch of guildies to help because I know I can solo this guy. Any tips in that regard would be appreciated.

A few other things. He still scowls, contrary to some reports listed on the walkthrough. I don't think he ever tried to fear or blind me. Just a scary array of dots, nukes, root and harm touch. Cancel magic did debuff him.

aye cancel magic.. gets rid of the dots fast before you get buffed.. get selos runing and if you have clicky lev get that on too.. then buff up.. when you do him again. you should have the first 2 spell spot open for his dots/root if they land.. just shoot yourself with that cancel magic song.. that will get rid of those immediatly (don't play that song to long or you'll start eating into your buffs) anyways.. think you should do ok..

sorry what I meant by cancel magic.. its to get rid of the dots on yourself I was refering to this song "Alenia's Disenchanting Melody" but I think you need a lute in hand. You can use the other cancel magic song which is singing but you have to target yourself first.. just set up a macro for that target yourself and plays that song then stop that song and target Maligar again.

I tried Maligar twice not long ago. First try was on a 55 bard that was donated to my guild by someone who quit the game. I wanted to see how hard he was before taking my bard out there. Tried just chanting him down with three chants, died to his dots because I didn't have any resist songs or buffs up. Second try was on my bard(lvl 49 at the time), sang the poison/disease/mr song and two chants and killed him easily. Didn't have any other buffs except sow. My suggestion, get resist buffs from someone that will last a while, hp buffs, sow, twist in your resist song, how you do the damage after that is up to you, fear kiting or chant kiting, what have you.

He's cake at L55, just get some buffs [i](mainly Virtue and FoS)[/i] on, play purifying chorus, hand in the note and chant him. With resists up he won't be able to land his dots, thats exactly what I did.

since almost all of his dots have disease or poison counters involved with them an even faster way to get rid of them is to use our nice little lvl 45 cure song, that way you dont end up dispelling your virtue or fos if you were smart enough to get one. I soloed this guy chant kiting without buffs at lvl 51. Since our chants have such a long range we can use SAC to run in and out of casting range to keep him from landing anything on us. I used the lev from my SS boots and SAC to do just that, then ran into target range every few seconds to make sure my chants hit him. He did take me down to about 50% but this is a trick I learned long ago when dealing with casters in a place where you have so much room to run. Most times you can run out of range between the time they start casting and the time it would land :)

Not always Scowls. I dont know why or how but I did this part at like lvl 28 ish and he was indifferent to me. I wasnt invis or anything.. I even went up to him and hailed him.. he kinda looked at me funny. It was after the turn in that he scowled at me and then did a HT, fear .. by time fear was gone he was dead.. I brought friends from my (main at the time, until I started bard) guild and they killed him in like 20 seconds. At the part now i need red scales, tendril from fear, got a friend with the backbone and then my sk can smithe my metal bits or i'l spend the whopping 10pp to buy them. I'm a Half Elf Agnostic... dont know if thats why i wasnt scowls or not... /shrug

I killed Maligar last night at 53. He scowled when I found him at his camp. I charmed him, brought him away from his cronnies, and handed him the note. His Dopple spawned and landed some sort of nuke on me, then rooted me, so I charmed him and root dropped. After that I chant kited him till he dropped. I had about 40% health when I was done. I think boil blood was what he got me with after the charm dropped but I never was real worried about dying at that point. I didn't have any special buffs at the time. He was not nearly as hard as I thought he would be. Assai Sherzo 53 bard ...tribunal

Well I did go back and kill him last night. He was still up after 24 hours, standing about 100 yards from my corpse. So at least I did not have to spend an hour jumping through hoops again. Anyway, I tried the same basic strategy of fearkiting with chains. When I pulled him, I had purifying up but once fear stuck, I twisted fear, chains and jonathons. Fear only broke a couple of times and he hit me with his usual array of stuff. This time I had virtue and some other buffs so it wasn't a problem. He did seem to have a damage shield up, so I used the cancel magic spell to get rid of it. Anyway, he only got me down to 66% before I killed him. Thanks very much to everyone who posted, your advice was extremely helpful.

im supprised you had so much of a fuss with this guy. by 55th he will be LB (well he was LB to me at 55th) and rather easy to chant down. he did try to dark me 1 time, and did try to cast a few dots on me. all were resisted, and my resists are not ubber by any means. i would say my average resist across the line is between 50-80.. nothing lower then upper 40s and none of them are in the 100+ range without my resists songs up. i used selo's, lev (from SS boots), DE mask (this did make him warmly to me) before i did the turn in. mind you i did not have Virt, or any other buff other then what i can produce myself with my gear (listed as what i had up). as soon as i did my turn in and got the item and xp with the msg about his doppelganer(sp?) i ran out of there rather fast. he did not run after me as he was trying to cast. no biggy, first resist. i get back into range and hit him with cold dot, then start to pull him away from the camp so they dont bother me. once out of the camp, i just chant him down. few resists, and took one DD for 400 points or so. nothing major. well under 1min, he was dead and i had my head for the turn in. very easy kill. i could see being 50th and him being either DB or even con causing a bit of an issue. levels IMHO are what made the differance and why i resisted his spells so easy. MR, PR, and DR buffs would be best thing you can get before trying to solo him again if you are under 55. good luck. p.s. you may wish to charm kite him down. charm something and bring it along with you. let this guy waist his mana on your pet then chant him as your pet beats on him.

hum.. quite odd, i did this guy solo at 46... and was by far a twink of any sorts then... im thinking you jut had a very horrid case of bad luck...

I did maligar last night for a fellow bard. First he was not kos to me but was to my friend (I am agnostic he is prexus). I played guardian and purifying and two chants, my friend stood around and watched as I wanted to solo him. I resisted almost everything including a harm touch. and ended up taking about 400 hp of damage - chilling poision was the only thing he got to stick. At around 20% (runnign time) he poofed. My friend was distraught but I said lets track him down and we found him at the zone to qeynos hills. My friend got his head and all was well. Basically at 52 he was cake just keep your resists up.
