Something you could do is when you see him first start to cast something on you, do your mez song, it will interrupt his spells. What I did to kill him was take my brother (65 enchanter) and one of our friends (65 wizard) to charm and nuke him (I was only about 30 at the time, don't think my charm would have landed). Then once the doppleganger spawned, the wizard nuked him once with the 65 nuke and brought him down to 1% hp, from there I just meleed him for killing me 20 minutes earlier :D .

Agreed. Chain mezzing while meleeing him is a possibility. I soloed him at around level 40 by running just into range, landing a dot, then running back out of range before he completed casting. It worked well for me - I was never below 25% health or so.

Last night I decided to start work on my epic and I got up to this point, you can kinda do the torch run and Maligar quest at the same time. At the time I was level 57 unbuffed with only Dark Elf Illusion and SAC song buff. Even with the Dark Elf illusion I still con'd Scowls. I took with me a friend, 58 Wiz, and I pulled all of Maligar's friends one at a time (they were all green, and Maligar was LightBlue) Each of the greenies was easy. I would pull them down the hill and engage while I twisted the 3 chant songs. When it came to Maligar I ran up to him and he attacked me before I could hand in the note, so I charmed him and handed in the note and immediately the charm broke because he was now the doppelganger. I fought him the same way I fought his cronies and never got below 75% health. I resisted all of his spells with the exception of his DD spells, (my health is 17-1800). My Wiz friend blasted him once maybe twice total. Grabbed his head and carreid it around for a while before turning it in, just to have some fun. So there you are....tales from a 57 unbuffed bard. :)

Brought my RL buddy (65 beastlord), killed him in about 1 minute, pet never went under 95% hp.

Just started doing my epic at 63 (I know... but had no prayer of doing trak before now), and Maligar was very easy, of course. Though green, he was KOS to me. I pulled and charmed for the turn-in, just to be sure. Then, just stood there while he HT'd me and tried in vain to get spells to stick on me. Few rounds of chants made pretty quick work of him.

Not to dredge up a slightly old thread, but I dispatched Maligar today with ease and thought I'd share my approach. I'm a level 53 bard and only have 1750 hps. Although I was perhaps foolish, I did not get any buffs for this attempt. All I did was to approach Maligar and see that he was threatening to me. So, as mentioned in other posts, I clicked the DE mask. Now he was scowling. Doh! Oh well, that is neither here nor there. I charmed him and, instead of coming solo, his entire entourage was behind him--I thought they were after me, being scowling, but now that he was my pet, they were after him naturally. How convenient. I had him attack and kill the entourage. Adds dispatched. Once they were dead I simply sang Purifying Rythms and turned my note into him. The doppleganger popped and I easily chant-kited him with two chants plus the resist song. He died easily and did not land a single spell on me. I wasn't even HT'd. Anyway, I thought I'd share if only to re-affirm to apprehensive bards around my level that he is quite doable. :) -Teryz Povar

Just nailed him last night. He got one Blood Boil on me, but other than that he was cake. 1 - Killed Cronies 1 by 1 2 - Got 2.5 min Selo's going, Got Purifying Chorus Going, Charmed the knucklehead and handed him the note. I immediately started backpedaling and landed 2 Chants before reapplying Purifying Chorus. Then landed 3rd Chant and 1st Chant. Then Chorus again. Then 2nd Chant and 3rd Chant. He was all wrapped up in about 2 minutes. At 30% I charged him to stay in Melee Range and he did not poof out. He had me down to 85% or so (REGEN3 and a couple REGEN1 items), but otherwise was a cake walk. Anyone needing help with this on Torvonnilous, look me up. i was 48 when i took him down, i had 3 lvl 50 friends with me, because i didnt know hes suck a wimp. we had a cleric, pally, shaman, and me. we killed his followers in like 10 secs. took us 5 mins to buff every 1 up and get to FM again, then it took us 30secs to kill him, what a waist of my friends time.

Is he solable by a 56 necro, my bard is not of age yet to be able to solo him but want to get as far on epic, since I quit my 57 beastlord, Because my bard is more use in guild then my bst!

Your 56 necro can do him in his sleep.

Soloed Maligar Doppledingleberry last night with 2200HP @ lvl 51. When I got up to the camp Maligar was scowling. I put on the DE mask and charismatic carrilton song and only got to threatningly as a bard of Tunare. I charmed Maligar and pulled him without adds. Charm broke after a couple seconds but recharmed him long enough to turn in the note. When Doppledingleberry spawned, i fear kited him but he was able to cast spells when the fear wore off. His lifetap that he got in did a good bit of dmg. I got him to 40pct and mezed him when I realized that he had me at 30pct. Even with a fungi tunic, the 2 DoTs on me eventually killed me. If I were to do it again I would advise fear kiting him and casting mez as soon as fear wore off then reapply fear. This would be to stop his casting because even if you fear him after he starts to cast, the spell will land before he starts running away. I tried to kite him out of range from his casting but if i got in range when he started casting then tried to get out of range, the spells would still land. I also noted as I had him charmed he would buff himself with rune and major shielding. Anyways I went back for my corpse with a 57 shammy and 51 rogue to finish the job quickly just incase he decided to despawn although it would have been fun to try a few new tactics soloing him again. The 2nd battle went quick with the rogue and shammy. He went down with no problems. I think he would be no problem to fear kite with any other class around lvl 50.

Twist in Guardian and purifying rhythms and you will resist his spells - I resisted a harm touch from him. Twist in two other dots and kite him around a bit. After he casts a couple of times he will just chase you and you can kite him down. When he gets near 20% engage him and beat-chant him down.
