It took me 14 kills to get my spine. I was lucky enough to get him to spawn on a time where many people weren't on; in the middle of the day, when I was waking up (night job! :) ), and when I got home from work in the middle of the night. But I understand your pain. I can't understand the logic behind designing 'fun' encounters which require you to repeatedly kill a trivial mob to get a very rare drop. Change Phin to a 3 day spawn, up the drop rates on epic items to 1 in 2/3, problem solved.

I know but i spent 5 months sat in that level. Raster used up 4 days of his life. I couldnt go anywhere fun or level up. I finally gave up on it because i found i wasnt playing anymore. Just log on check spawn time and raid time then log off. It totally destroyed any enjoyment of the game. Besides vox/naggy raids on xegony were the most annoying things ever. 40 people with no idea how to play their class, at least not in a raid, forming up and reforming up. Taking around 2hrs to finnally get prepped and ready only for some idiot to agro the dragon early and half the raid to wipe. Hated em all.

Just got my Phinny piece tonight. First time dead with my bard. First time I've seen the backbone. Not looking back on that ugly fish, though if he sees me in zone again I'm thinking he'll cry b/c of what my Wizard did to him.

Phinny was the 2nd part I got. I got my Page 24 top first. I now have all 3 page portions (24 top/bottom and 25). I will have the lute head tonight. My GL has a part I need for MQ to get it. My big problem now is LDoN has SCREWED the ability of my server to get public support for Naggy and Vox. The ones who do come, from a call for help across multiple zones, leave as soon as they find out they won't have any chance at the CoF which is done on a point system. So here I am, wondering when I'll be getting my scales. Red will be easy enough, 2 alternate mobs drop it and I'm getting to where I can "bid" on it in the Hole. However, only 2 mobs drop the white scale, Vox and Gore. Sigh :( The public raiding system on E'ci was the best, sadly it is dying off.
