    Re: Same ol' crap

I have this same problem as well. I often get people in the group saying "Mana song pls" when I've been consistently twisting it, or "Haste gone" when I'm twisting both Zek and an overcap haste song. I group with the same people all the time and still hear this kind of stuff, so finally I asked "Do you guys have your song windows on?" Not surprisingly they said "Oh yeah, I turned that off when UIs were first available and never thought to turn it back on." One even said, "Oh, I thought bard songs still went into the main buff window..." *smacks forehead* Now I just try and remind people, before you ask for mana song or some such, please make sure your song window is on. The way to handle folks who tell you what to do is tell them what to do. Nuke now please Heal the Tank cleric Slow now shaman Mezz that one Chanter Use your Bow ranger. They will get the picture.

It even happens in guild. I told my guild one day that CoM is always up between pulls and normally during fights too. I said that if anyone said mana song again, I would never play it during a raid ever. haha. Also, I've found that alot of folks dont have our songs icons up, they just have a block for normal buffs.

You all make me love my guild more and more, thank you! My GL's wife is a bard, before me the only one in guild. Many of our officers are or have been leaders of public raids for an extended time and know what bards are capable of and appriciate a good bard. I've had several compliments from them. Heck I should, I know them pretty well and they basically guided me in learning how to best support them in various situations. And yes, I have been known to suggest to other players when to do what, not often but... :lol }:)

I know this is horrible, but I sorta prefer it when our group is without an Enchanter, Shaman, etc. I hate having to sit there watching an add attack the main knowing I could've mezzed it already, or waiting for a shaman to slow at 80% when I could've hit it at 95%. I have to say, though, my main problem recently has been my old friend, the Druid. Much love to my druid friends out there, but I've partied with some real jerks. The most recent example, the dr00d feels a need to DoT every damned add the second it appears (and includes a nice, mezz breaking AE ice storm every MOB), goes LD every five minutes, and asks for mana song plz every time he comes back (like it's some sort of effect I have to cast specifically on him). Note that mana song has been up for the past hour, even while we were running to our LDON adventure and I stayed near the casters to make sure they were recharged from the buffing. I did feel gratified when the rest of the group (including a good druid) explained to him that mana song had never been down, but it still strikes a nerve, hehe. I'm not telling him how to do his job.

I got to watch this the other day, but it was my fault. I don't know if chanters can overwrite a bard with Jamfest. But, I pull with slow, and that never affects the ability for a shammie to stick slow on a critter.

    Re: Same ol' crap

Our slow and shaman slows coexist peacefully regardless of level. Oddly, unlike snares or other spells, having a higher level slow on a critter already doesn't block ours from landing at all. So we can actually layer on backup slow in case something knocks the first one off. If you feel inclined to do so. Educating your guild on haste used to be the monk's domain - they were, for some reason, regarded as experts. I think it is the bard's job to understand it and explain it. My group's main warrior has a 41% haste item in neck but it has mediocre stats. Last night, she passed on an uber LDON cloak that has 36% haste. I had to very patiently explain to her that with the 2-box level 65 enchanter she has guaranteeing that she'll always have 68% haste from Vallon, she doesn't NEED 41% haste. But it was a tough sell.

Aye, I see melees shoot themselves in the foot on their haste-item choices all the time. Of course, there's always the chance that something new will come along and break the cap, I suppose. And let's not even mention overpowered warrior soloing ;)

Well, my concern isn't stacking, it's just that I feel bad doing someone else's job. I know it's sorta stupid but the chanter was a nice guy and I'd feel bad mezzing stuff before he did. That, and it wasn't worth it with the damned DoTs, hehe.

    Re: Same ol' crap

My regular group's shaman is an ogre and he's built ogre-tough with over 200 AAs. He slows whenever he darn well feels like it and if he gets agro, he is generally not too concerned. However, he does appreciate it when I bring them to camp pre-slowed so if he does get agro, they only hit him half as often.

    Re: Same ol' crap

Aye, a high-level shaman can take a few hits as well as (if not better than) I can, and I have little respect for those that wait around to malo/slow. And for "raid encounters" it's not much different, because there's always a few shamen present and if one or two of them get one-rounded getting the slow on early it's a matter of "taking one for the team". I'm sure those same shamen would be none-too-happy with me if I sat around on my arse instead of landing an HoS and trying to stick a pre-slow. (Funny, I advocated the "wait a while" tactict to a bard new to raiding in another thread just yesterday. I guess it's all a matter of learning your (and your team's) limits.)

There is no harm in slowing a mob or mezing an add before the shammy/chanter does. Slowing the mob on incoming reduces the amout of damage the tank will take until the mob is slowed by the chanter/shammy. I usually pull with HoS and have it slowed before it even gets to the group. Mezzing a mob before the enchanter allows them more time to mez the mob without the cleric or enchanter getting pounded on. I can't tell you how many enchanters have told me, "Thanks for mezing that mob. I was getting resisted or interupted). Most of the time when I pull 2, I will mez park the mob before it gets to the group so the enchanter can easily mez it.
