    Dont laugh...

But I have never swarm kited in my 52 levels. I am 90% group playing oriented and rarely solo. After reading the boards (old one and new one), swarm kiting techniques have finally put their hooks into me so that now I want to try it. However, I need someone to tell this old dog how to do this trick the best way. I need: 1) Possible locations to try this that arent too deadly for beginners :lol Someone mentioned iceclad giants but they are all green to me. And if you can, besides zone name, a description of where in that zone you would run your swarm around. 2) spell gem line up. Already know going to have run up, invis for breaking charm, one of my chants to kill charmed one at 20%, and charm. What else do you recommend besides those 4? Guidance for this old bird is appreciated. Tweet Tweet

    Re: Dont laugh...

Spell gems: 1. Selo's Chorus 2. Charm 3. Fire Dot 4. Cold Dot 5. Magic Dot 6. Assonance (more dmg to finish off those toilers!) 7. Song of Dawn (pesky toilers that keep chasing me) 8. Song of Replenishment, for if you get hurt a little bit. I have a tiny cloak of darkest night, so i dont need to have invis memmed...you might want to replace Assonance with Invis if you dont have one. If you want a good place to start out with, without the danger of being killed, go to OT. Good practice there, and probablyb where most bards learned how to swarm/charm kite. If your looking for raw xp, Toilers in ME are the way to go. As long as you dont have more than 1 druid/wizard there trying to quad kite, you should be able to have a good session. There's a tree on the north side of the map (between the lake, and the 4arm city). I run around there a lot when I have 10 or 15 toilers chasing me. Just dont get too close to the buildings...4arms will warp through. If thats camped up...you can try gorangas, or do centi's in Akheva. Those are always fun, and pretty wicked xp too.

    Re: Dont laugh...

I see from your profile (is that your profile? It says Israfel, not Robyn?) that you don't have an epic. If that's right, then yer setup should probably be a lot like mine.. If you do have an epic, replace Selo's Song of Travel with Shauri's Sonorous Clouding. Tuyen's Chant of Poison Tuyen's Chant of Frost Tuyen's Chant of Disease Tuyen's Chant of Flame Selo's Accelerating Chorus Selo's Song of Travel Solon's Bewitching Bravura Syvelian's Anti-Magic Aura 4 chants to bring down your weakened enemy quickly (you'll usually wind up with an enemy between 10 and 20% health, unless you like to cut it really close, in which case you'll often wind up losing your kill before you can break charm, in my experience), 49 Selo's, of course, Selo's Song of Travel to break charm (you don't want to be swapping in a flute while you do this), and of course charm. You could also use dispel to break charm if you wanted, but I keep it memorized in order to deal with snared or sow'd enemies, which I sometimes come across. Overall, I haven't swarm-kited much over my bard's career, though I tried it early on when I got my first charm, and again at the 39 charm. I've only begun using it a lot since 51, now in Planes of Power. Here, the enemies tend to act just like I want them to, and the areas are nice and generally free of the type of adds that I don't want to deal with. Them flies in the Plane of Disease are a good place to start learning, for example. A warning about using Selo's Song of Travel, though.. This should be obvious, but it might slip the mind at some point.. Make sure you are not anywhere near the enemies when Song of Travel takes hold, so they cannot break your invis (and hence your speed), and make sure you are at least 4 seconds away from the enemy (and preferably more) when you start casting Selo's Accelerating Chorus again, because you'll be slow for 3 seconds between invis break and the new song taking hold. And I'm no expert, but ey, if ye need anything else, advice on any other places I've discovered, send me a tell; I'm on Xegony. *Grin.*

Mmm, still no edit, eh? Never mind the thing about Israfel. Heh, was a bug with my IE, was loading some cached Magelo profile I'd looked at previously.

Thanks Anthy! I have not explored the PoP planes yet other than Knowledge. From your post, 52's can go to PoD? That's sweet! I thought that I had to be higher to go there! No I am not epic'd yet. That is a Loooooonnnnng way away!

    Re: Dont laugh...

I've been swarming in Disease and Nightmares since 51...which was about a week ago. 54 and a half now. You might not get groups, but you can solo most anything that doesn't summon. Even chant-kiting was worth it when all the swarmable mobs were camped, as things in Nightmares tended to give 2 - 3% regular exp per kill.

    Re: Dont laugh...

While the line up of songs is a good choice you might want to try the Raptor isle (big one) in Timorous Deep as a place to master your skill. The key is to have an escape if things go wrong so that you don't die. Here you'll just need "Selo's Song of Travel" and be ready to run out over the water. Another good things about the Raptors is they are "social" creatures. One attacks another and all of them assist to beat on your pet. This isle will also teach you alacrity because you will need to finish your kite of 7 or 8 mobs within 15 min or face repops. Don't feel too bad Robyn, I didn't learn to swarm kite till lvl 58 myself (about 3 weeks ago). I'm still lvl 58 but now have 2 AAs. The raptors give over a blue in AA per round of swarming and figure swarm them 4 times an hour. Thats an AA every 5 hours or so (even at lvl 58) if you have the patience for it. You'll notice I dropped out a DoT. Don't really need all 4 of them because the Raptors don't have many HP. This leaves you with an open slot for an emergency fear if you get stuck in the middle of the group of mobs. (they DO warp on occation like all mobs everywhere) Tuyen's Chant of Poison Tuyen's Chant of Disease Tuyen's Chant of Flame Selo's Accelerating Chorus Selo's Song of Travel Solon's Bewitching Bravura Syvelian's Anti-Magic Aura Tamb 58 Bard of Lanys

    Re: Dont laugh...

Well I don't have my epic and I use... Angstlich's Assonance Tuyen's Chant of Poison Tuyen's Chant of Disease Tuyen's Chant of Fire Selo's Accelerating Chorus Shauri's Sonorous Clouding Chorus of Replenishment Kazumi's Note of Preservation I usually find a decent sized clearing or stretch of land. Kite about 2 mobs there to check for bad warping area's. Then I tell people in /ooc I will kiting a few mobs in that area. I pull around 6 mobs. To that area and charm one and have it attack another, I circle back near the 2 fighting so that the rest of the mobs will stop and assist. Then I switch over to my flute and wait a min for the charmed mob to get down to around 30% or so health. Remember the health is usually lower than what your bar says and it does take 3 seconds to cast invis. The reason I chose 6 mobs is so that all the mobs stop chasing me and assist. I find the more mobs I have the harder it is to do. Before breaking invis retarget your pet. Then break your invis when your pet gets below 30%. Most time I find that they are below 15% when the invis goes off. Now kite around your pet while dotting it to finish it off. I have Angstlich's Assonance memmed instead of another Chant because it lasts one min long and does about as much as a normal chant. This makes it easier to have a "missed note" while twisted the other 3 chants and keep going. The reason I have Kazumi's Note of Preservation memmed is for when some horrible individual pulls some ungodly train through me or a summoning mob I can just DA up and head for the zone. Rinse and repeat. If you find your self getting low on mobs just swing out and grab 2 more here and there. -Windcaller Puretone (60th Bard)

    Re: Dont laugh...

I forgot to add I usually drop either my fire chant or my DA for the charm. It all depends on the zone. If I am kiting in PoD I will drop the fire chant. If I am on some remote Island I will drop the DA. -Windcaller Puretone (60th Bard)

    Re: Dont laugh...

If I were to go and solo in ME, I would obviously come in at DSP, and how would I get to the toilers from their? Also could I swarm kite them at level 51? If not I would fight gorgangas, and where is a good place to fight them from DSP entrance? Ok next thing, I could prolly chant kite things in PoD at 51... but where do I go and how do I get to where it is safe to fight them from the book you click on to get down? Re: Dont laugh...

Kible... To get to the toilers from the DSP zone-in to ME, I put on 51 Selo's and run in a decent arc to the south of the big Xi fort. None of the Xis can see invis that I found, but you may trigger some traps that spawn vampyre bats--they DO see through invis and if you linger, they will aggro you, break invis, and likely get a Xi on you. Some Xis are clerics, but if you get a shadowknight, they WILL snare you and you will die. So KEEP RUNNING until you get to toiler hill, which is just on the east side of the Xi fort. I generally run all the way around to the east side, then head north directly over the hill (it has a tree on top) and onto the zone wall, then turn around to see if I have any followers... then I can break 51 Selo's, start 49 selo's and my SS lev, and go to town. Sure would like a Tiny Cloak or Mosquito Boots, though... wow, that would make a huge difference. :Fluellen Cadwaladr:

No one is laughing, just get out and try it. This goes for YOU too, hiding behind your "I dont know how to swarm" look, you read how, no GO! SCAT!!! Yes you will panic, yes you will die a few times, get a cleric buddy to watch you and he will laugh his butt off, but learn! Gileas
