Grrr. So I go to SS around lvl 45 to pull the guy and kill him for the SS/CS key, only to find SS has been revamped somewhat and he is around a bunch of other mobs. OK, so I do the long route, working COV faction up to kindly. Speak to him, he gives me the note to Wenglaks in Kael to get the key. I wait until I ding 49 to have accelerating chorus to last when i zone in, so I can escape with bard speed in Kael. Wenglaks cons indif to me when I target and con him safely. So I go in, give him 200 pp (becoming visible and seeing the Noble wizard start casting on me) and try to hand him the note. He aggros me, and I run to zone, shouting train to WL and getting a druid's alt (that he is two-boxing) killed. I go back and check the quest and AH HA! It says warmly is needed in some posts. I go back to GD and EW and work faction up to warmly and ding 51. go back to Wenglaks, try to turn note in first and he aggros me and I escape. I destroy the note and go back to SS and run the quest again, doing every answer (there is a way to give one answer and get note). I go back to Kael, try note turn in, and again he aggros me. Trade window won't even open, so I escape to WL. I go back out and work faction up to ally. Go to Kael, try to turn in note, same thing he attacks. I think, hmm maybe give pp first then note. So I heal up, go back and when I try to give him the 200 pp, no trade window and he again aggros me. Well, I make it out of his room, go to next and can't open the door (pp on cursor, so can't open door). I try circling around while I open inventory and put pp away and by then the noble has hit me with 3 spells and I die. So... I do CR, leave the damn note on my body at the WL zone, and /petiton. The next day I get a GM asking me about my petition. I explain all I want is the SS/CS key. I dont want a rez, just for the quest to work with me ally to COV faction. He advises me to /bug it and promises to report it up to his/her head GM. So, I now waiting for the patch and server reset to try again, as I am not expecting any resolution from the GM's. Damn! Have a friend on Kromriff (or Kromzek or whatever) faction hail the giant that spots you so he's facing away, or wait for wenglaks to wander off (he's supposed to at some point) and hail him in a quiet spot. Wenglaks won't aggro you, but he'll assist any other giant that does aggro you. He's kinda jerky that way. :p I had the same issue when I did the collar quest, and used the have a friend hail method to not get aggro.

Thanks for the suggestion IdrilG. I made an Ogre warrior worshipping Rallos Zek and had a bard friend 'escort' him in EW to giant fort. All the Kromrif and Kromzek conned dubious, so I went to the room, and although I could get Noble Helssen (sp?) to talk to me (spout insults), he would never move from staring directly at Wenglaks. I must not be high enough faction to fully draw his attention. I am going to go in invis and watch him for a day or two (game time) to see if he wanders and try to note day/time to see if it is predictable... once I get Run2 (just in case) Badji

Had my alt sit and watch Wenglakks while I was working on something else, and at 11pm wednesday (game time) he wandered to the merchants in Kael, talked to them for a bit, then ran into a wall and 'ported' back to his regular spot. I am going to try and confirm this time and activity. Might be the opportunity I need to do turn in. B

Well, tried to confirm the time fo Wenglakks roaming and it didnt work again. So.. /rude CS key quest. I saw here (in another thread) about how to go to CS through Plane of Mischief. Went in with song of travel, found tree and went to CS. Now all I want to do is charm Wenglakks and have him killed by the giants (or repeated kill him myself). B

I guess this was probably not highly publicized but you no longer need a key to pass from Skyshrine into Colbalt Scar and vice versa. Unless you're doing the quest for faction purposes or something... I just clicked through the other day and I never got the key with my alt so I know it works :)

Fvthijis: Thanks for the post, but as of last night (04 Feb) I was still getting the "you do not have the key" message when I was clicking the statue in Sky Shrine. Sucked too, since I had some druid (not the level 50 and 60 hunting wyverns, but another) come through, aggro the named (Yvolcarn?) and proceed tro run him right over my swarm of 3 on his way to zoning. I cleaned up my swarm, gave everyone an OOC when I was heading to SS and left. But when I tried clicking the statue it didnt work, so I called it a night. I wonder how you are getting through without a key? Badji

Funny because I distincly remember porting into Cobalt Scar and zoning into Skyshrine to run all the way up the place to get to some quest mob for a friend of mine. Niether of my chars on Firiona Vie are keyed for Cobalt Scar/Skyshrine but I was able to click right through.

Yeah, you have that reversed. You CAN zone into SS without a key, but you Can NOT zone to CS from SS without a key.

Great news! Finished up in CS last night (using POM route), sold in SS and was on my way to the bazaar to put the hdes up for sale and made my usual stop in to see Wenglakks in Kael. Well, it was 10 pm Monday gametime, and since I saw him wander last Friday at 11pm Wednesday game time, I waited. To my surprise, at 11 pm, he started walking!!!! So I followed him, waited for him to get down that corridor toward the merchants (toward EW) and did turn in. He didnt stop walking, but completed turn in!! Ran back to SS, turned in the note and got the KEY! Woot! Now I need to go back, charm him and send him to his death. Badji

What I learned while being frustrated with this quest: 1. An indifferent quest mob may pick up sympathetic aggro and become KOS to you.. so alway be ready for that possibility. 2. Persistence pays off, even if it is aggravating. 3. The Plane of Mischief way into CS. I still use it even with the SS/CS key (so much faster). 4. Verified the quest MOB (Wenglakks) DOES move out of room he is normally in and you can complete quest without getting zone-wide aggro. I also have seen it twice now at 11pm game time, but on different days (first time wed, next mon). 5. An lvl one Ogre Warrior that worships Rallos Zek starts dubious with giant faction, but still gets killed in the Tormax areas and by Vindi. that is about it. Can't you just kill Wenglawks for the key?

You have to kill Ziglark Whisperwing for the key in SS not Wenglakks. Since they revamped SS, he is no longer near zone line or under level 30. So I worked faction up levelling in the 40's and thought I would do the quest.
