    Re: Obtaining Your Disciplines

Okay all I have tried typing "/ (name of discipline)" and that hasn't worked. I've looked at my combat abilities too and don't see the discipline either, so basically i'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I have give the tome in already.

    Re: Obtaining Your Disciplines

Ok, theres two ways to go about this. 1) Open your combat abilities window. Should see 8 squares below it for hotkeys. RIGHT-click on a box and it should bring up a little pop-up with 5 pull-out boxes. These pull-outs represent the different timers each disc resides on. Within these pull-outs you can find your discs, select one and a hotkey will be set into the box you right clicked. 2) There is a little box on the default combat abilities window with a 'c' in it. Left clicking that will bring up a window that looks like your skills window with all your combat abilities/discs on it. Select the skill you want to use and click the "make hotkey" button to create a hotkey. You can then treat this as a regular hotkey or you can put it into your combat ability boxes. I used both of the above to setup my discs, like FM.

Alt C, opens the disciplines window, hit the little button and any tomes you have turned in will show up in the list, make hotkey.

You can also still type /disc *** to get the disciplines to fire. /disc deft works great, especially when I know I need to keep twisting.

    Re: Obtaining Your Disciplines

lol - I was pulling in a PoI group the other day and asked the monk in our group about the 'throw stone' disc. They get it at level one and it does precisely one point of irresistable damage. I figure it makes FD pulling easier, and wanted to know more. He'd never heard of it. Then in an LDoN group (pulling again) I noticed a lot of red sparkles during combat - like the Katta's proc. I wasn't singing it so I checked the spam. Our monk was evidently making every point of damage count... I have a sneaking suspicion he didn't really know what it was for tho... So yah disciplines seem to be still shiny and new and confusing for some folk. Information is power. Check here and Lucy and experiment.

They don't 'get it at level one', same as we don't 'get Resistant at 51'. Not anymore. Now, you do need to buy the books. So, you 'need to go out of your way to find out about and acquire your new disciplines'. A lot of people don't realize they're missing anything.

    Re: Obtaining Your Disciplines

Keep in mind that there are spells and disciplines that are given as part of the new tutorial to classes that don't normally get them until later. These are only available if you get to the tutorial before level 6. There is the Soothe spell for hybrids that is a very weak heal, and I assume that this level 1 discipline is the one given out to the melee types.

    Re: Obtaining Your Disciplines

You can also activate your discs by using ctrl+# where the # is the location of the disc on your disc hotbutton bar. Very good for quick access and you don't have to waste a hotbutton slot.
