Re: proc aa

I just bought WA5. I don't have the parsing data to back up my subjective opinion, but I think this is one of the best DPS AAs. With WA5 I have proced three times in a row. I have two procs on my main hand and just the epic proc on my secondary. I plan to add a DPS proc to my epic as soon as possible. I just can't say enough good about this AA. A friend of mine was parsing DPS in an experience group in tactics. He parsed my DPS at 74 when I was the puller, slower, haster and CC for the group. I was astonished that my DPS was that high. He parsed that 20 to 30% of my DPS was in proc damage. I can't independently test these numbers, but he tends to be a rather careful sort of person so I do trust his data. (note: I have lava infused bludgeon in main with a 125 poison based LDON proc added) Another big plus to WA5 is our epic proc. Too often bard haste is streaky because we are pulling, slowing or doing CC, and we are not getting haste in the twist for periods of time. Talk to virtually any melee and they will tell you that bard haste in their experience is not always up. With WA5 my epic proc is almost always up. That means that when I am pulling the mob comes into camp slowed, and my first song to twist is overhaste (Call of the Muse) so my groups usually have epic (55%) + Muse (30%) for 85% haste at all times. It seems to make a big difference in DPS. Then I just twist in the standard stuff (Zek, Marr, PoV). I have yet to hear of anyone who has WA5 who is disappointed in the AA. It is 30 AA total but the value of the first few levels is a nice gain per AA. As far as DPS gains, it'll vary depending on the weapon setups. It'll be better for someone using a weapon such as an ethereal destroyer and a 750dd than someone with a 50dd. I made and posted the parses I had in this thread: http://b5.ezboard.com/fthesafehousetrainingstudioqafornewbies.showMessage?topicID=20074.topic]Click here for link Later in the thread someone didn't believe my claim of 8 dps increase from WA0 to WA5 so I posted the math and such. For most using weapons with 100-150dd and augments, you should see similar gains.

I have WA4, think I am going to stop WA for a while and work on extended notes, channeling focus, or maybe sinister strikes. I will WA eventually. I have my lava bludgeon with the 150dd cold aug from Everfrost, and I can tell you WA does indeed kick arse

    Re: proc aa

Hehe, I'm loving this AA - currently I wield the 1hb from time (Natural DD proc of 750, and augmented with 150 DD/stun proc) and Blade of carnage (soon to be similarly augmented). This is great, because if the warrior can't catch agro, I can, sparing those weak little wizards and such from the wrath of mobs. Currently at WA3, don't think I'll stop till I reach WA5, considering the huge increase in my melee DPS/agro that this grants. (note: BoC is not a good idea for all bards, but if you have the HP/AC for it, it sure is nifty to tank for a change)

    Re: proc aa

"I have yet to hear of anyone who has WA5 who is disappointed in the AA. " Go read the SK boards, you'll find hundreds 8-) The problem with WA is that because of the way procs work it actually reduces the number of procs we get from our self-buffs, which are generally superior to our weapon procs. Not that many that have WA would be singing it, but I'd imagine it would also reduce the number of procs from Katta's Song of Sword Dancing too. Basically, only one proc can fire on any given weapon swing, and the order they're checked is:- 1) Weapon proc 2) Augment proc 3) Self-buff proc (eg Katta's, or one of several SK self-buffs) WA doesn't increase the rate of self-buff procs, and so the combination of having WA5 and an augment proc means a much higher likelyhood of one of those 'blocking' the self-buff proc. One of the main things SKs are asking for atm is that either WA increases the number of self-buff procs as well, or the checking order is changed so self-buffs are checked first. Obviously it would be nicest if more than one proc could go off at once, but they say that's impossible due to the way procs are coded, which implies to me they have coders that don't know how to change things 8-) Katawarl
