    Swarm Kiting

So let me see if I understand this correctly: It's easiest to do on social creatures. You grab 6 or 7 "Social" creatures and then get them chasing after you. You charm one and then send him against his buddies. The other 5 or 6 start beating on him. Right before he's dead you invis or hide or something like that to break charm. Then you chant him to death. Rinse, was, repeat?

Wow, you got it! Nice short and sweet post on swarm kiting. There are more subtle nuances that you may want to get down, but there are posts and guides on this site for details on swarming. Just know that after you get your 39 charm, this is the best exp in the game for you. Oh, to lessen the frustration, practice first in a zone with minimal lag (EW Ulthorks work well). Sinfonian

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Think if I knew how to swarm when I hit level 27! My gosh in SK? Pulling Tesch Ma Knoles Or what ever those are! Pulling 10 at a time I would have dinged 35 in 2 days! That would have been so funny. Pulling a train and killing them all. Or if I were to swarm in my 30s in overthere? That would be the greatest thing ever! I want to make another bard just to try that out hehe :p

Whats the easiest way to break charm? See I have dabbled in swarming before but I really didn't know what I was doing at the time. I aggroed some named giant in EW and then started to chant him but he kept resisting. So I charmed a giant and threw the giant at him. Of course I let the named guy kill the giant but I kept throwing guys at him until I killed him (60 minutes later) Are the Ulthorks good xp at 46?

    Re: Swarm Kiting

The easiest way to break a charm is to have your invis song, Shauri's Sonorous Clouding (19) up and when the mob gets to 20% health, have your flute equipped and play invis to break the charm. Having the flute equiped will also make your charms last longer. And Ulthorks are very good exp.

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Yep, don't rely on hide to break it or you will lose many pets with no exp to show for it. When you get Selos song of Travel at 51 you can use that and not have to switch out instruments. However, you lose selos when you do that so it's incentive to get Run3 so you can keep away from mobs in the 3 seconds it takes to recast selos. Sinfonian

    Re: Swarm Kiting

I would say so, but where I went to hunt was in OOT (ocean of tears) to level 51. Great exp AND GREAT MONEY if you get gornit, the hillgiant pop. They are called seafury cyclopses, and are exelent exp in my experience.

    Re: Swarm Kiting

At 42, I left Ulthorks for Spirocs, great exp til 48 or so, then I moved to raptors to avoid CS, Then again I was in it for exp and not loot. Wyverns in CS or Seafuries etc in OOT are good exp and loot, not as good exp though. IMHO Sinfonian

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Are sow potions fast enough to keep ahead of the mobs in PoD? I am just starting to learn swarming at 47 so will be going to EW to learn on ulthorks then head to spirocs in OOT and then hopefully at 51 or 52 head to PoD. Just need to know if SoW potions are fast enough and will the 51 song of travel invis work if you have sow up? Also I have tried the swarm thing a couple times already without success (always have a few that stay on me) so how do you gather them up and still get them to attack pet once you charm one?

    Re: Swarm Kiting

I can't say for sure if sow will be fast enough, they are speedy insects and rodents. I can say that selos is too fast for them by far, so likely it would be fine. Run 3 would be cutting it close. Travel song overwrites selos and I believe it would sow as well, so that would not be a way to break charm if you drank a sow potion. I use it with selos, but I have run 3. I think you will find that you will not use sow potions after 49, selos for 2.5 min is awesome. When I find I didn't get 100% social agro, I run the ones chasing me right through the pack a second time to see if they just were out of range the first time. If they still follow me, I tab lock on one of them to make my next pet and then keep making the chasers my pets til they are gone. Hope that answers all your questions Shaitain. Sinfonian

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Thanks very much I think you got all of them. I just wish you were on Drinal so could show me a time or 2 as I have yet to meet another bard on here on my server. I have a few bard friends on Drinal so will have to see if they are up on swarming. Keep the posts coming Sin I find you answer most of my questions before I have to post most times ;) .

How about Jboots for speed? Now don't laugh but my benefactor insisted that I have a pair, not sure for what tho since I am a selo's snob. `Vario

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Was thinking about those as well but was told they are only equiv to about lvl 11 sow. Just not worth much as some mobs will catch you at that speed. Selos is great and I can't wait to get the lvl 49 one. With my SS boot effect and the lvl 49 song will be able to run all the way across most zones over everyones heads singing my most colorful songs just to look like a comet to the newbs hehe.

    Re: Swarm Kiting

Actually Jboots are not as fast as any level sow. However, as any non-selos/sow caster that has them will tell you, Jboots are "fast-enough" to keep you ahead of most mobs (espcially with jumping which is a trick I learned with my warrior). That being said, I would prefer to be constantly ahead of any mob with selos than have to wonder. I have also heard that Run 3 is good enough to swarm some things. I haven't tried it though. Level 49 selos is great, I don't twist it, but just click it when I see it start blinking. Cake. 2.5 min of superspeed. I too use it with SS boots to pull over water. The two last the entire pull, it's great, I can worry about getting too close to mobs rather than twisting. Oh and Shaitain, though I'm not on your server, you can always shoot me a cross-server tell (I'm on morrell-thule) if you have a question. I love helping folks. Sinfonian
