64 Charm, Where to & not to do it

You guessed it, New song in the line up and need to learn from great singers of the past. I have asked a bit in severwide and got a few locations. Could we make this thread a place to post or findings? I have tried Spiders in PoD, i can charm but just after i break charm, they insta-heal /boogle. I tried breaking charm closer to mob and that didnt go well or solve the healing issue.... /yell

I found the same instaheal with rats in PoD. You have to be running towards them or they pop up to 20% or so. Sucks to have to kite them for another minute to fix the mistake. I am nowhere near 64 so I can't comment on the new charm. Though I can't wait to get there. Sinfonian

this song is retarded, you can only charge things a couple levels more than the one we got a million years ago. mages and enchanters are charming mobs in bastions of tunder, hasting them and outdamaging entire groups with no problem. all bards can do is charm flies in plane of disease, which is a zone where exp is only decent if your under level 60. /rant off

Don't forget the 60 mana or so you get taxed with for that 1 min duration. The new lvl 64 charm I think uses 90 mana a charm with 1min charm still.

Just another nerf of bards. It begs the question, why did they make bards if they were THAT superior to everyone else that they have to nerf them EVERY patch. Being one of the throngs of bards under 60 that is enjoying the tid bit of time I get in PoD charming flies with 39 spell, I am partial to the place. I dred to think that very soon I'll be resorting to chant kiting or grouping exclusively as swarm kiting will no longer be a viable exp generator post 60. All I can say to that is good thing it still works for AA exp, thus explaining how bards have upwards of 230 AA points, earning upwards of 6 or more a day. Can't wait til I'm satisfied with my level and can afford to do AA again! Guess I'm no longer drooling ver the 64 charm song though, hehe. Sinfonian

No they didn't nerf the bard charm yet... They just made it like this. They did however nerf the AE sleep (AE MEZZ) song. It has more resist tables on it now that any other song we have.

Does Jam fest 3 raise the cap on this any? Was curious about that, never spent the AA in it yet. I'm just assuming it would. Paolin Polyphonic 65 Maestro

Re: 64 Charm, Where to & not to do it

Jamfest makes you play/sing songs as if you were higher level than you are now. JF3 would be like have 5 extra levels added to your current level. JF1 is 1lvl. JF2 is 2lvl's and JF3 is 2lvl's. So at lvl 65 with JF3 you would be singing/playing songs as if you were lvl 70. It helps with how often you get resists and it boosts your song effects a little bit. I'm not sure what you mean by raising the caps on this... If you mean what level the charm caps at. Then not to my knoledge. If you mean the AE sleep song, they haven't done anything with that. If they wanted us to have a functional AE sleep song, they would have to give us a new song with that ability in it. Since the previous one is received at such a low level.

Ok thanks for the info that makes sense. Just heard rumors, and read it a few places that it can raise the caps on a few songs. Which would make the new charm worth something for the high lvl soloer.

Re: 64 Charm, Where to & not to do it

There's a ton of 1st tier mobs that can be charmed. Granted, for exp purposes, this is only usefull swarmkiting. But, at 65, getting 1 AA every hour is pretty dang good (or 1y of regular exp at 64). PoN is my favorite hunting grounds, but the PoD courtyards are supposed to be just as good. Re: 64 Charm, Where to & not to do it

Frankly, i don't think this is a "nerf" at all, given, I would love to be able to charm level 60+ mobs, but this opens up a totally new grounds for charming for us. WW dragons, all the yard trash in PoN, suck exp but still, the entire courtyard in PoD which I'm going to try once i get the charm, lots of options open up to us. the Deep, deeper mobs, the possibilities are endless. instead of looking for the "nerf" try looking at what kind of alternatives we can find, so much more useful to suggest things. =)

Ok, I have grouped in the CY in PoD a bunch of times, many times as the puller....stuff there casts and HT's....not too productive to swarming.

Let me see... Nitemares are lvl 62. Our charm caps at lvl 57. Hmm... sounds like a stretch. Esp since the guy doesn't slow, hits for well over 1k and summons.
