    Lambent Armour Outdated?

I was reading a post on here somewhere the other day that said that Lambent Armour was no longer up to standard in regards to other armours you can get at a similar level. Is this true? Has Lambent become outdated? Or are there options out there that are just as viable in the lvl range (20 - 30 I think) now? Just had to ask, and while we are talking about POP making stuff "outdated" does POP make some of the other items around the 20 - 30 lvl range look lack lustre and what sort or gear would you suggest an untwinked bard aim for at that level? Any help would be appreciated on this matter as getting class specific info in regards to the effects of POP on Bards and suggested "kits" is fairly scarce on the ground I have noticed. Thank

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

Minaas, I don't think that the Lambent quest is all that and a bag of chips. LOL But, it's not a bad quest, from the looks of it. I haven't done all of it, I admit. I did do the gauntlets, as they were better than the ones I was wearing at the time, Validus Custodus. There are much better items out there for the mid-level range, i.e. Kaoda'Dal Mithril. The Lambent armor is ac 16 or so, and the Kaoda is ac 26, with a nice charisma and sta (or is it str??) bonus as well. The quest is, certainly, cheaper than the Kaoda, 1000plat for the Breastplate on the FV server. *shrugs* Between friends, and Castle Mistmoore, I was able to come up with the plat for the Kaoda. :) As for the quests on the Planes of Knowledge, I haven't done any of them. The few that I have looked at will take awhile to complete, and by the time I can finish them, I won't need the reward for them. *shrugs* Karinya 32nd Diva of Tunare

Lambent is fairly old stuff. It does work and it's fairly easy to obtain via questing. Although I suspect it's cheaper to to buy it in the bazaar. Most singing steel parts are also cheap and at level 40 you can use the cool clicky effects. I never leave home with my Singing Steel Helm and Boots tucked safely in my pack. Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

everyone should do their lambent quests! its a right of passage, and its super fun! but yes, this armor is very outdated. if your gonna buy lambent go buy crustacean armor instead. its the same price and has way better stats. and no matter what anyone tells you, the negative charisma doesnt do crap. =)

Ok so what you do you recommend an untwinked bard of 13 choruses shoot for beyond my newbie armour set which has my Dex sitting at 126 and my cha at 114? Also if you can tell me where to get the armour it would help!!!

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

Acrylia Plate is relatively cheap, and has way more AC than the newbie stuff. On my server, the BP goes for as low as 800pp and the legs as low as 750. The rest of the Acrylia is no where near as good as other items for those slots, and is rarely, if ever, made for that reason. My idea for mid level gear to shoot for, buying it all in the bazaar is: Head: Crown of King Tranix - 13AC 20SvM 15Cha ~750pp Chest: Acrylia Plate - AC: 30 Stats: Str +5, HP +15, SV M +10 ~1kpp Legs: Acrylia Plate Greaves - AC: 20 Stats: Agi +4, HP +10, SV F,C,D +2 ~750pp Wrist1: Seahorse Spine Bracer - 8AC 5str 10 Cha 5 Agl? ~500pp Wrist2: Hero Bracer - 12AC 10Str ~ 150pp Feet: SS Boots - 21AC clicky lev (@45) Fingers: Velium Fire Wedding Rings - 6AC 65HP (HP=Good) Face: ??? Never found a good one thats affordable, I use Iksar Mask

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

ROFL you just rattled off between 3K and 4K worth of armor for an untwinked level 13. Doubt he has that kind of scratch if he is truly untwinked. First I will assume you have banded or better in each slot. If I am wrong about that certainly start there as the cheap beginning. If money is too tight for you to do banded or better at 13, I suggest a little silk/pelt farming. Spend a couple hours collecting spiderling silks, price them according to the market on your server and sell em in the bazaar while you sleep/work. I collected 80 this morning on a little non-twink of mine (level 10) and expect to have 200pp+ when I get home from work. Interim upgrades from there: Netherbian Chitin for the chest AC20 and pretty cheap usually (100pp is high-ish, got mine for 50) Ry`gorr armor is pretty nice for the price and fairly cheap. Lambent IS pretty cheap in the bazaar, generally cheaper than the gems for questing it. After you collect a little money Mystaviant's suggestions aren't bad. Hope this helps Reys

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

LOL, forgot to make my statements clear, as always, I am so bad at that. When I started playing again about a year and a half ago, I started from scratch again, with a lot of knowlage of how to play the game. I got what I could for 20p or less per item (or so) and made do. I saved and saved and saved, and when i got enough money to buy one nice piece of gear, I did. Spending 200-300 plat on a piece of gear always seemed a waste to me, because no sooner would I get it, I would need an upgrade again, and that old gear would rot in my bank, or I would pawn it off, at a large loss. The newbie armor quests are great, and I never had the benifit of having them, as when I first played (pre-kunark) and restarted (just after luclin) they did not exist. The stats and AC on the newbie stuff is actually quite good, and should manage for quite some time. Heck, I dont even have as high dex and cha that the newbie gear has, well, maybe not cha, but my dex is only 97, lol. I would save until you get enough to buy a velium fire wedding ring or two, then go from there. A 3-4 person group of low 20s should be able to get each person a netherbian chitlin in about 2 hours, the swarm leader always drops it, I wouldnt bother buying one.

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

Hehe, all the clerics in my guild know of him. Funny thing is as they know ME, they all say they'd be honored to have them heal for their alts. Sick people if you ask me! Just to let you know, my ONE group experience with him to date was a unique experience in OT with 4 melee, a shammy and clerid (me) where we essentially broke into two groups with me responsible for 2 tanks and the shammy the other two and pulled at our own pace. That experience showed me that a 200 wisdom doesn't help that much at 36 to have a sufficient manapool to buff everyone in a group, then be expected to heal anytime soon. It also showed me that I'm not a cleric... I don't have the patience to sit there and watch health levels and buff timers. An hour of that made me want to play my bard, hehe. No offense to clerics, I just am not one. /thread gank off What was the question again? Oh yeah, lambent armor outdated... Yes. Next question... hehe Sinfonian

    Re: Lambent Armour Outdated?

Blah.. I quested every single piece.. I started playing EQ in August of 2002.. (ok I cheated and bought the second bracer, no use doing the quest twice :P) Is it outdated.. ? possibly.. but I still wear the bracers, and leggings... (sometime helm) I'm level 51 at this point.. I basically found that I do a lot of chant/swarm kiting so the equipment means diddelly matter of fact I toyed with the idea of just not wearing equipment at all when swarming.. Anyways, I am now finding at this level that I require desperate upgrades considering that I know am raiding more. I am annoyed tho at the cost of the lambent you buy in the bazaar, as someone posted some of it is cheaper than the gems themselves that were used to create it (:P) ahh well to each there own... If you enjoy questing.. then I say do the quests get the equip and be proud of it.. else if you just like to get as uber as fast as possible make a lot of cash by pharming stuff.. and buy your equip in the bazaar. Tsol Ylenasni of the Exiled Gatekeepers (Morell-Thule) P.S. (I still have all my Lambent in the bank, can't seem to part with it)
