Feedback on Missions - like/dislike

Some friends and I have been exploring DoN lately, and I was curious what missions (shared tasks) that folks like or don't like from DoN. Our typical group is: 70 Chanter - baz/few elemental pieces geared 70 Mage - time+ geared 68 Necro - baz/WoS/Fabled geared 67 Cleric - baz/few elemental pieces geared 67 Warrior - baz/WoS/Fabled geared 67 Bard (me) - baz/WoS/Fabled geared We've done fine on the Thundercrest missions, but haven't tried anything in the Nest because our chanter did a pick-up group there and said it was a lot tougher. My favorite so far is The Creator out of Thundercrest. Nets 40 cyrstals, and our group is very good at finishing it due to the number of runs on it. Missions we've tried: Lavaspinner Hunting - Lavaspinner mission where you kill 20 somehting spiders and loot 5 drops. The drops come from these egg things, but it took us a long time to find and/or get them all to spawn. We had killed all our spiders before ever found one of the egg things you opened for the drop. After that, I ran around invis and just looked for the egg things. Took a while to get them all to spawn. Nets somewhere around 30 crystals. Grounding the Drakes - Lavaspinner mission that is not my favorite due to all the caster drakes that CH, gate, and tash. Nets somewhere around 30 crystals. Lavaspinner Locals - Lavaspinner mission where you kill 15 spiders, 15 dervs, and 15 drakes. You also collect stuff of each type of mob. By the time you've killed 15, you generally have all your collect items. I liked this one, and it nets somewhere around 30 crystals. Infested - Lavaspinner mission that is OK. We were able to invis/lull past most mobs and just move to the five named mobs you had to clear. Nets somewehre around 30 crystals. The Drake Menace - Lavaspinner mission that is OK. You open 15 eggs and then kill a named. Not bad consider there are some pockets of the zone with several eggs close by and you can invis, open, and then fade of agro with a bard. Nets somewher aroudn 30 crystals. The Creator - Thundercrest mission that is fun and pretty easy. Takes about about an hour to complete and nets 40 crystals Throes of Contigation - Thundercrest mission. We dropped this one when we had problems on the first few mobs. There were two pumas that were guarding a corpse. They were immune to lull, mez, snare, and stun, oh and they summon too. After wiping out on them, we just dropped the missoin. My plan for dealing with them after some more thought was to pull both, have group snag one then I would High Sun the other back to spawn and fade.

You'd have to be careful that no one in your group got aggro on the one you were highsunning or it would be fruitless, since it would forget but still go after them. Make sure you don't hit anyone with a song while you have aggro either, or you'll transfer assist aggro. One of my favorites is Children of Gimblax (it's so freakin easy). The easiest way to do it is everyone stays at zone in, bard invises and runs to the back of the zone, watching for see invis on the way. Aggros Gimblax and runs him back to zonein, fading just short of the group. If all went well, Gimblax stays there while the rest of the adds walks back. Another one your group could probably handle is "A simple task". It's a stillmoon mission. You're supposed to investigate a garden, pick a plower, then put it in a pot with some fertilizer. You can invis almost all the way to the garden (a few random see invis on the way). Then, all your mobs spawn nearby as you clear the garden area. The named mobs hit kinda hard, but you should be able to do it if you're careful.

I hate every single tier 1 mission...especially the ones involving eggs.

We tried a new one this weeked - Diseased Pumas out of Stillmoon. Netted 34 crystals. I didn't care for this one because everyone in group reported tremendous lag, which is sad for an instanced zone. In addition, I had a horrible time pulling this one as there were several areas where I would pull and get mystery adds that I couldn't otherwise see. We finally finished, but the reward and dealing with the lag wasn't worth the effort.

Highsun does work on the Pumas, I have done it many times. I usualy give myself a bit of running room, and run the two of them halfway back to the group, Highsun one of them and fade, then grab the one thats left and take it to group.

Did another new Stillmoon mission this weekend called Animated Statue Plans. The reward was 30 crystals and it took our group under an hour to complete. The mission calls for you to find some statue plans, kill a statue, and return plans to the mission giver back in Lavastorm. You start out in the far left side of the zone and the have to work your way to the far top-right part of the zone where you will spawn a Goblin Warlord that drops the plans. As he is dieing a Goblin Guard goes and spawns a stone statue that you have to kill. Then just take the plans back to lava and you are done. I thought the mission pretty easy, and a nice change of pace.

I love statue plans, nice and easy... but Ive never had it take an hour usually at least an hour and a half. Do you invis thru the rooms or how do you shorten it... or is it just excellent DPS? A trick I learned recently, instead of mezzing the statue when the guard activates him... Once you have the room with the warlord clear, Tag the warlord (bellow works well) and once the guard beside him starts running to activate the statue, then you Fade (or FD if you happen to be a monk, necro or SK). Warlord resets and you kill the statue single (usually in the small room between the two big rooms) then go in and kill the warlord. That way you arent tied up keeping the statue mezzed.

We had a Qvic geared lvl 70 mage, 68 Necro, and 70 chanter with a charm pet in the group, which all contributes to pretty good DPS. The cleric, warrior, and bard (me) are just long for the ride. :) Having the chanter's charm pet we weren't able to invis (breaks charm), but we did bypass as many mobs as we could by simply not pulling ones that wouldn't agro as we walked by. Thanks for the tip on fade/FD for the warlord!

You mean easy for a Tacvi/Anguish type bard? :p Folks that do this mission can expect 8-16 SI's along the route, and RUN-5 isn't good enough to out-pace the pounding you will receive along the way. Even if you get the mass-transit gaggle of mobs back to IZ without dying along the way, you will likely have at least a couple of gator adds when you re-aggro Gimblax (they wander very close to IZ). Can it be done? I'll bet it can (freshly selo'd before zoning in and also being better geared than me to mitigate and avoid some of the inevitable blows you will receive enroute). Has it been done? Probably. Can an average geared and average skilled bard pull this off without his/her entrails becoming his/her extrails? Not likely.

Re: Feedback on Missions - like/dislike

I love the Children of Gimblax mission. I'm definately no Tacvi/Anguish type bard. My guild right now is a more casual guild a Corinav kill away from POTime. I do have almost full EP gear and top out about 8.5k hps buffed. I basically Selo'd before zoning in. I hit invis and ran straight back to Gimblax's cave and faded. I sat around invis for a second to regen hps back up so Selos was long gone for the run back. I tagged Gimblax and ran back with POV up. Once I got back toward the entrance of the castle area I fired off DA and ran Gimblax off to the right corner. From there it was trivial to bellow him to reagro and fade again.. slowly seperating him from his train. Pulling him through the basalisks in that front area was just a matter of mezzing them and fading agro off. I did this with a random pickup group and when I ran back to camp to request a new mission I still had another 26m left on our lockout. I'd definately leave this mission as the last DON you do to close out a night. Theido Weylin -- 68 Bard of Druzzil Ro Guaranteed to miss more notes than an American Idol reject...

Nother easy way for bard with new Charm, (didn't try old charm) is to invis up to a see invis. mez the add across the hall from it which will add the SI and sometimes a friend. Run in range to charm pet, prey it works first time, FADE. Pets do not regro and it will follow you happily to its death. Pick out the see invis and invis the group all the way back.
