    need some soloable shoulders

Hi everyone im a level 61 Bard and this is my 1st post to this site. I need some new shoulder armour (almost ashamed to admit im still using a tattered mantle) preferably something that is soloable since my guild, while nice people, are useless at getting into anywhere. ) Any help would be greatly appriciated!

If your on CoV faction snag up some Draconic Pauldrons. You just have to kill 4 lvl 55 NPC's in WW who don't summon and can be singled. Loot there heads and turn them in to the bard in SS.

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Just read the quest and I'm curious how this would be soloable by a bard? I plan on grabbing a group of a few 55+ from my guild and running over, but I'm always curious of tactics. Warrior is an easy chant kite, and the cleric is a REALLY LONG chant kite if you (like me) don't have a good mana sieve song, but how do you chant kite the wizard? Can you say Ice Commet? ROFL. I'm sure I'm missing something, but aside from getting several more levels and the mana sieve song to mez drain melee, I'm at a loss on how to solo these. That and I assume that level 8 lull will work on these guys as I don't have anything higher yet (except in the bank as I like to buy songs on sale early, lol). Any help would be appreciated as I'm into new challenges, but not if they take place in WW (CR's are a ROYAL pain!). Thanks, Sinfonian

it might take abit and be well ghetto, but bard are know for being ghetto on occasion.....pull dem casters single, get near and mez, mana seive, mez repeat. might take u 5mins to get all there mana but you'll do it then just dot dot dot to death, can even grab a helpful velium hound to help with the killing, kinda like a moble mob dot....

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

What I did for each of the hunters was chant them down. Mana sieving the casters dry does work, but I find that incredibly tedious. What I did was just put on all my resist gear, lulled each mob then single pulled and chanted them down. My resists were roughly 100 in all and I didn't have any problems resisting the majority of their spells. I did have a few problems with the wizard, but every time you see him start casting just get out of range real quick then go back in. All in all they are pretty easy fights. Oh a warning, the warrior mob will gate when low on health. This is problematic if the cleric is still up as he will heal the warrior, so kill the cleric first.

indeed, didn't think about taht but the ole get the hella outta range also works, depends also on you lvl, being 60 its easier to bounce of spells with 100resists then being 55, etc etc, 100resists all in all if its goes bad......just get the hell outta dodge /camp and come try again. might take abit but you should get it down

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Actually the easy way to kill the wizzy is just load up on resists and then go grab 2 wolves. Now charm one and send it in to the wizzy. That should suck up most of his mana. Then send in the other one once he has killed that one. The only thing you have to worry about is if you have pulled him too far and he gates. I did the quest when I was lvl 58. Just remember pets are dissposable heh.

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

The way I did it was increadibly messy, a bit long, but it worked. I wanted to grab wolves to toss at the casters, but it had been so long since the last patch that there we no mammals up at all. So, I put on my resist gear, and twisted in a resist song followed by two chants, resist, the next to chants, etc. for the cleric and wizard. Soon as I got my target away from its partner, I would mez it and strip it of its buffs, then start chanting again. Once a few spells got through to me, I would just mez and regen up. It got a bit dicey with the wizard a couple of times, but he blew all his mana pretty quick and ended up just casting low level nukes at me, that I easily resisted. This does take awhile, since the first couple of nukes still hit pretty hard even if partially resisted, but it works. Just make sure to mez when you get down to 70% or so, trying to push it runs the risk of him sneaking a big nuke through and you taking a dirt nap. The cleric went down really easily. He spent so much time nuking me that he didn't have enough mana to try and CHeal himself. Went down pretty fast. The shaman never cast on me once, and getting rid of his pet was a minor nuisance. Just keep on your toes, especially with the wiz and you will be fine. Be sure not to do as I did and answer a tell in the middle of that kite.

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Ran into these guys by accident, last night.. chanted the shaman down easily.. but the wiz got me.. twice.. (I'm only 54, so the mez/mana drain doesn't work) tried the run out of range thing.. when he starts to cast.. bah.. mis judge his range.. 2nd time was using one of the hounds that went by.. was workin fine until charm broke :P then I got wacked again with a nuke, which killed selo, ( again was too close) and before I could get selo up and running again my former pet got me, plus another nuke.. bah.. may have to get help.. or another level.. ahh well I'm pretty bad at judging distance.. thought I was far enough, away to avoid nukage.. I'll go try it a few more times.. Only can learn by my mistakes.. :)

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Many thanks for help guys now got myself some Draconic Pauldrons. Just some tips for those who may want to try it. As stated the warrior and shammy are both easy kites the shammy will NOT cast. The cleric will blast you a bit but with the help of just one pet was not much of a problem. The wizzy was a little more difficult i sent 2 velium hounds at him which he annihilated and i still needed a third pet to get him out of mana then he was pretty easy as well. Both the cleric and wizzy will gate when low life and if they do this they go back to 31-32% health and can be annoying so plan for this.

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Fun stuff and high end is always to try the Coldain Shawl quest series. Only the true will make it to the end but, hey, that's the difference between bards and others anyway. It's mainly a caster item with flowing thought III at the end, but you can never have enough mana... (maybe you can start throwing in that area blast sometimes just for the fun of it, yeah, I like those guys asking, what bards can't do... )

Sadly I am still using those damned tattered mantles too! I hate the tattered mantle, hate it with a passion. What would be a good way to kill these bastards with a 58 druid partner? Thinkin I would kite the warrior and shammy, thats the easy part, now to the wizzie and the cleric.... How many hp to they have?? Would the mez/nuke/mez/nuke tactic be feasable?? The druid is my wife, and we can time the mezzes to land half a second after the nukes do, so that will make the wizzie and cleric impossible to nuke back. So long as they dont have more than 16k or so, or high resist to dreams of ayonae we should be fine. How many HP do they have? How resistant to mez, fire and ice are they?

    Re: need some soloable shoulders

Go for the ones dropped by the Goranga Battlemasters in Maidens eye (Stats shown above, slighted Pauldrons). The camp is right out in front of the UP Akehva zone in. There a 3 or 4 gorangas that spawn at those rocks. Just keep killing them, eventually a battlemaster will spawn. The battlemaster might also drop a VT shard, bank it, you may need it later! Probably a little easier camp then the WW guys, decent exp if you are around 60 too.
