Re: Chorus of Life on Jelvan

I have been on two open raids in Anugish and one with my guild were we took on Jelvan. Each time we positioned the entire raid dps force inside one cell and the three rampage tanks and main tanks pulled each of their mobs to their respective cells when they spawned. The dps killed one mob then moved on to the next and then to the last. why is it that ppl are saying to keep the three mobs balanced? Why mess around with that? what is the comment about cross aggroing mobs about?

If the mobs are not balanced Jelvan helps them and they start to hit harder and i believe a nasty ae goes off (not sure on this, been so to long and i have a memory like a sieve). Most Guild need to keep them balanced whe they first do the event. Later after they are better geared they can just plow. As far as cross aggro goes, why eat 2 ae's when you do not have to.

It's always best to not have AE heal/resists etc. going during the named pull so you are not near the top of the hate list. Though true you can always fade and lower yourself on the list but people will always turn and blame the bard if anything goes wrong. For Jelvan I always start my /melody after he is in the cell where we are fighting to keep the aggro on the other mobs to a minimum. We always have 3-8 bards per raid and I believe only once did we hold back from playing AE songs.

Re: Chorus of Life on Jelvan

As was mentioned in the first post, whether or not this is a relevant issue depends on your strat for killing Jevlan. Initially we used the 3cell/balancing method that a lot of people seem to favour for this event, and as a general rule we prohibited the use of AE songs. There does seem to be some disagreement as to whether AE songs will reach or not, and I can only talk from my own personal experience. Once or twice we experimented with the use of AE songs on Jevlan. I witnessed, firsthand, hate transference from the South cell to people in the Northwest cell. Now, it may have been down to Bard positioning that day, or player positions in the South cell, but either way we noticed a spread of AEs not native to the cell in question (yes the mobs were balanced), and the only reasonable explanation was transference after beneficial buffs or heals hit the Bard. Anyway, from that point on we restricted ourselves to group songs on this event, until a few months ago when we changed tactics to a variance on those described by eclapton. Now, the playing of AE songs is a moot point as hp imbalance kicks in early on and everyone gets hit by the AEs anyway.
