Does anyone know how to make special char's in the chat window/socials. I saw a guy last night that was using a "spade" & "musical note" in his social key for incoming mobs. Example /g incoming spade spade spade %t spade spade spade %r The word spade above would be replaced by the image from say the ace of spades in a deck of cards. I know in "charmap" on different fonts it has the char's I’m referring to. I have tried using ultraedit to modify my userchar.ini file to add the chars. The char's are Unicode in charmap. And when I try to paste them into the .ini file I either get “???” as the char's or when converting them to ASCII I get the proper look but in game they come out as ♫♫♫ chars. Does anyone know what font is used by EQ to make the char's i'm referring to? I'm sure I probably made this clear as mud trying to articulate what I’m saying =/ Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah I finally figured it out about an hour after making post. I hadn't tried the utf-8 file encoding. Which was all i needed. Thanks for the reply though, i'm sure others will like to use it also.

This looks very interesting, tried it last night, and I don't have a font that has notes and things in it? Does it matter what font I select in Character Map? I see in the graphics in the link that the person has 'Arial' selected as the font, but when I select 'Arial' all I can see is the letters of the alphabet etc. not all the cool symbols shown. Can someone tell me how to get to these special characters please? Myxalidia Bard of the 59th Rock Concert

When I did this, I didnt change anything in the character map window, just simply scrolled down and selected the notes.

Oh, and windows ME?? Ack!! You really gotta scrape together the cash to get XP, it runs so much better than ME (much less LD, means much less LD-Death, lol) and in pretty much every other way, if not every single way beats the snot outta ME.

I hardly ever LD windows ME or not. I've got a rock solid 1 meg cable internet connection. The last time I went LD was about 2 months ago when the zone crashed. Myxalidia 58th Bard Antonius Bayle

I've got ME as well and I hardly LD either. My internet connections not as reliable though, which is normally why I LD when I do. Sinfonian

Bah, still cant edit.. That's the numbers on numberpad, not along top of your keyboard. And you dont have to hold the numbers down, just the ALT key. Can also do other number combos for different symbols. O and K, I'm done
