There's your mistake :) I'm just teasing. Couldn't resist though, you made it too easy. I've never tried charming anything, might ask an enchanter. If they're charmable and don't summon, no reason you couldn't swarm... until you got unlucky and a root/snare landed.

i was a bit sceptical at first(i still am i guess), but the guy im talking about is one of the regular board trawlers there and has a good rating and as far as i can tell is not prone to lying (tho who can know with a message board huh? lol) its why i asked here, the mobs in the nest dont summon and if you get the right instance you can get ones that are low enough level to charm. the thing i was thnking about is the fact that quite a few of these mobs are casters and thats kinda what i was wondering about mainly.

I don't know much about swarming but I guess you could kite the nest drakes and nest defenders (only ones that I know that do not summon and are snareable). Which would probably be really nice exp, maybe 13-15% AA a kill. Plenty of HPS and hit very hard though which makes it difficult.

    Re: NEST SWARMING?

They're about 10% in a full group... you'd probably be getting 25% of an AA per kill solo. Exp formula for full group is XP/5 * 2 (100% full group bonus and the 6th person doesn't count against you). So solo experience is ~2.5x group experience for the same mobs. So to get 12AA/ hour, you'd need one kill every 1:15... not sure you'd be able to keep a big enough swarm for long enough to pull that off... and god forbid you got a couple early breaks. Even when I used to swarm gargs I was hard pressed to maintain that kill rate... and I didn't have to worry about mez doing that... Pretty worthless analysis since never tried swarming the Nest, but it seems exaggerated at best. Maybe he only did it for half an hour (using Lesson) then just used the per hour mark as a means of measurement... /shrug.

    Re: NEST SWARMING?

Healer mobs totally mess up your swarm and theres tonnes of em in the nest, it would be a total nightmare unless you petted them first and let your swarm gazump them. (its fun getting a ch from a pet tho lol) I've started swarming lately in the hive though (uninstanced), it's pretty nice xp and you only need 2 mobs to beat your pet down fast, 3 to really get the xp rolling and lower the early breaks. The zone is set up nicely for it too, charm roamer - send him into one of the groups of 3 mobs around the zone, theyre the perfect size groups to start a swarm. Xp is about 13% a kill (26 with lotd), i made 4.2aa in 30mins before raid the other night with lesson on, not amazing but not that far off what a high end xp group can do with lesson.

Maybe we should change the ambiguous term of "swarm kiting" to "gazump kiting" :) I like it!

    Re: NEST SWARMING?

12 aa hour is hard to believe, but with the lvl 74 charm doing nest instances can be pretty good exp. Just grab a non casting mob preferably and send it in on 2 or 3 non casters and do the normal kite. When done chanting mob down fade, loot up, and repeat. You dont need great gear or a lot of aa's, but with crappy gear you will have no room for mistakes or to push limits on speed of kills. For caster mobs, sometimes I try to kill them, but usually I just send them into the swarm and let them die off then fade. They like to gate and heal which cause problems. With a little practice there are some good techniques to speed things up here and there, just dont expect 12 aa an hour doing it. You can beat the blackwing mission for the crystals too in about 20 minutes, but I wouldn't recommend trying that w/o some pretty solid gear.
