    Training brass?

    Hello :)

How do I train brass instruments? As far as I can see my lvl 18 aoe dmg is the only brass song I have and when I try to play it, it says "don't take hold" - so what do I do to train this? Thanks in advance for any tips on this :)

When I had a bard many years ago the best way to trin for brass or any other instument is to find an isolated spot (if it is saying you it will not take hold you may need to go into an attack zone--- not PoK or Bazaar or GH/ GL)  then you could even go to bed as bards can just play and play.  Remember brass does damage so good to be in an isolated spot.

Thanks a ton for your answer - it was because it was guild lobby. I took the stone to Freeport and is now "brassing away" - it took around a 100 tries to get it going but now I'm playing my heart out :)

Tomorrow morning I'll be over 100 in skill and there will be dead rats around me :-) (checked and no mobs there bash, so should be no problem)

You could also go atop the Gfay spires and start your song.  I did that with the fear song we get at 26 and got Brass up to ~120 overnight with low int.  Granted it literally took 50 plus missed notes to actually get it going.

    Re: Training brass?

    From that guide ..

"PoK, Bazaar, Nexus are all non-aggro zones.  In other words, if you hit a guard or merchant with your nasty song, they will not kill you.  In fact, they don't seem to even notice, hehe.  You can also find an out-of-the-way spot like climbing up a zone wall somewhere.  (That's what we did back in the day, before those zones I mentioned existed, hehe.)"

AE brass songs won't work in pok, guild lobby / hall, bazar anymore, high up on a zone wall works though untill you get brass based warmarch songs - those you can sing anywhere.

I wrote that about five years ago, hehe.  I've been away from eq for a LONG time now.
