    how goes kiting?

     Hey people,how is the kiting?

Is bard charm lvl 70 just as horrid as it was last time as i was there? do you still need to be ontop of enemies to charm them?

Do our dots still do so little that it takes us 15-20 mins for 1 mob?

I was kiting in fortress last night (not charm kiting) just hanging out chanting the mobs down...it took about 5-10 minutes per mob...chants hitting for about 458 per tick.  As far as being on top of enemies for charm, yep...that hasn't changed.

    Re: how goes kiting?

5 mins is still not bad.

I remember when i started chantkiting in pov, that is what it took me.

    5-10 mins per mob

I think it should always be 5-7 mins instead of 5-10 wich is starting to be alot.

Afterall.Bards don't have a viable source of decent xp now that charm is overkill nerfed to the point of extinction.

I also think they should fix the lower lvl chants now that they fixed our lvl 80 chant. What about people between 70-80? afterall its gonna suck to solo at 70 as a bard since we got no decent dots till 80.Why is it the gms never think ahead? they think yeah ok we will make a new dot in the next expansion and everything is ok.WHAT ABOUT LEVEL 70?

The 65 charm is not bad and still works ok but the lvl 70 charm with its terrible range is useless.

    Re: how goes kiting?

/shrug... I hardly ever chant kite a mob all the way down.  Any mob that is a decent level for exp. takes way too long to chant 100%.  With all my AA's maxed (all that would effect soloing) it still takes about 5-10 min to chant a mob in Hills of Shade.  I usually Charm (Swarm) Kite lvl 78 mobs.  During LotD I can take out roughly 24 mobs.

The range on the higher lvl charm is 30, meaning you have to be in melee range.  Use you mez spell.  I suggest getting the rk. ii charm, yet DO NOT get the rk. ii mez spell.  The higher mez will make it last longer, meaning that you will not be able to kill as many mobs, as you will be waiting longer for mez to break.  Though higher charm will make your charm spell last longer... so your pet will be closer to death when you break mez.  I also suggest Boots of the Mosquito.  Click from inventory to instant break charm.

Where exactly do you swarm at Laeif?  I am having a hard time figuring out where to go as chant kiting is extremely boring.

At higher level (I started swarming again at 79) I did/am doing gators in Loping plains. I can take the water end of the beach (leaving about 6 mobs for the group in the corner.

Remember to use your ally song on the frogs (lasts till you die or zone I think) and avoid the bears.

Swarming IS a rush, takes timing, and the ability to deal with the lag spikes.  Xp is great solo and if you have a friend to help it's still ok (they should have FD or some other way to drop agro if they are going to help you)

Better yet forget about the frogs, if one adds, it's just a little more dps for your swarm. Use ally song on the crocs. By not being kos to them, you can run right up to them and charm from melee range without mezzing or anything else. They'll assist other crocs though. I grab 4 of the nearby orcs to use as my dps, and I just never kill them, I let them be my designated swarm. Then I charm one croc at a time. Since I'm not kos, and they don't assist orcs, it's really easy to move away and stand next to the next one you want to charm while your pet is dying. If you go long enough, you'll need to refresh a dead orc now and then. By not having to do the mez step, it goes much faster, and I can keep the whole beach cleared.

Ummm...  the Rank 2 mez does NOT make it last longer...  The Rank 2 mez has a negative 15 resist check while the Rank 1 has a negative 10 resist check.  That's the only difference.  I don't know where this rumor of "Rank 2 lasts longer" came from.

    Re: how goes kiting?

this is great avice - use the ally song to your advantage. i also like to keep Highsun memmed so i can send away any roamers, ie in stoneroot falls, those godawful witherans wander through walls and all over the zone, interfering with your charm kite (they don't assist shadowmanes.)

what i've found to be more useful than mez, is using Largo's/Dirge/Selo's constant chain - it takes a few tries, but if you think of yourself as planet earth and the mob in your pack you want to charm as the sun (in this case the sun moves in small circles), occasionally on each pass you will be just within range for your charm song. i find it more effective and simpler than running my pack away, especially when charm gets resisted right as the pack closes in on me, so then i have to start all over again.

    Re: how goes kiting?

Glad to know I was mis-informed.  When TSS first came out it actually showed different durations on Allakhazam's spell listings for the different ranks.  This of course was right after the expansion so they were still trying to figure out the spells and different ranks themselfs.  It now shows 3 ticks for each rank... so you are quite right.  Thanks for the correction!
