    Instrument Modifiers

Quick question about modifiers.  If I am not mistaken, the max cap for modiers is 4.2  correct, with  Tutelage maxed, etc?  My question is how are these modifiers added up?

For instance, let's take a simple example of percussion?

    Epic 1.5 = 2.2
    Instrument Mastery 4/4 = 0.8
    Warped Steel Gauntlets = 2.2

Does this mean that my total modifier would be all three added together for a total of 5.2 which then is capped at 4.2?  I just wanted to make absolutely sure, as I'm still doing instrument swaps (which most likely are not necessary at this time).

When calculating Mods you can never add non AA mods.  You are stuck with the best mod plus your AA iirc.

Your percussion mod (without drum) would be 3.0 (I'm unsure how instrument mastery really calculates in so If I'm incorrect please feel free to correct.

that's right, that's exactly how it works. +0.2 per point of instrument mastery. +0.1 added to the cap itself per point of ayonae's tutelage.

    Re: Instrument Modifiers

I guess the thing I wasn't aware of was that it only takes the highest mod you have on...I've just been debating if I should be dual wielding at all times at this point in the game, or if I should still swap out instruments (wind for mez) etc.  I've been going back and forth on the subject.

Sounds like I just need to go through and put some hard numbers to table:

    Instrument Cap 4.2

    Wind
    Epic 1.5 (2.2)
    Warped Steel Pants (2.3)
    Stained Mino Panpipes (2.3)
    +
    Instrument Mastery (0.8)

Conclusion: Don't swap out wind at this time, as Pants + Instrument Mastery = 3.1

    Brass
    Epic 1.5 (2.2)
    Warped Steel Helm(2.5)
    Sabertooth Horn (3.2)
    +
    Instrument Mastery (0.8)

Question: Is it worth swapping out to the brass to get a 4.0 over the 3.3 or keep dual wield?

    Percussion
    Epic 1.5 (2.2)
    Muramite Drums (3.0)
    +
    Instrument Mastery (0.8)

Conclusion: I think its only worth swapping out if chant kiting or travel.

    Strings
    Epic 1.5 (2.2)
    Warped Steel Arms(2.4)
    Muramite Drums (3.3)
    +
    Instrument Mastery (0.8)

Conclusion: I think its only worth swapping out during downtime healing.

So from this it sounds like I can do away swapping out wind all together for mezzing, as pants take over this role.  Not sure on brass yet, looking forward to your feedback...

So sounds like maybe 4 bandoliers then (melee, strings, brass, drums)

    Melee: dual wield
    Strings: healing
    Brass: ?? haste
    Drums: Chanting and Travel

    Re: Instrument Modifiers

If I remember correctly, Selos speed maxes out at 2.4 or 2.6 drum mod.  So no point in switching out to a drum if you are just running.

    Re: Instrument Modifiers

Selo's does max out at full speed, with the AA's that increase the cap at 2.6 drum mod, so no need to switch for travel for sure.

Haste doesn't get any better from the higher brass mod, only the ATK and STR buff components do, so there are minimal rewards there, but there are some. In my opinion I wouldn't bother switching brass unless there is a big big increase.

    Re: Instrument Modifiers

It's just not worth the hassle anymore, and i used to swap instruments and weapons all the time. the benefits from that extra 0.3 or whatever it is really isn't going to be noticed or make much difference. I use a drum for chant kiting or for initial raid debuffs, and that's it. I'd use a string for mez/healing, and that's about it. I use wind for cures on raids, where the extra points do make a difference, but that's it. Most of our songs aren't even moddable now either.
