    Fading Memories

Just wanted to transfer the topic over here from old EQDiva site. This is the hotkey to use Fading memories with the turning off the autoattack so it will stay up :). /attack off /alt activate 212

Or a pet. The invis this gives ya doesn't break the charm. Then the pet can get ya reaggroed all over again. On the up side if you have a healing song playing before hitting the button it will contiune to play and you can heal back up while invised.

    Re: Fading Memories

I am soon going to save up AA points for FM, and would like to know some more details about what you need to be aware of. I'm hoping that someone can either answer these questions that are on my mind, or provide me with a link to a topic/website that has all this info in it. :) I know, so far, that it takes 900 mana, that it wipes the aggro list of mobs, makes you go invisible and that you have to have autoattack off. And the info written above in the topic, having no pet and such. Remaining questions: 1. Do you have to stand still to activate this? Or can you (like about anything else bards can do be on the run). 2. What is the duration/restriction of this invis? Does moving make it drop? 3. I hear this invis is not an invis vs undead. True or false? Does activating this near an undead npc mean you probably get reaggroed? Can creatures who see-invis see through it? Or is this much like the rogue's sneak-hide/shroud of stealth? 4. Do you have to be outside melee range of the mob(s) to be sure of success? And is there a need to be aware of casters who may land a spell after FM has been activated (like with monks and FD, if a spell lands after FD the mobs know the player is not dead). I think those are most of the burning questions... if I remember any others I'll add them ;)

    Re: Fading Memories

You can use FM on the fly... I use it running around corners the most. I haven't seen a limit to the duration of the invis. It lasts consistantly long. You can move around and it wont break. If you had a song playing when you hit FM you will be invis with the song still playing. Kinda nice with selo's playing. It does not make you invis to undead. If something can see invis it will see you with FM. So you can easily reagro. I can actually fade right next to a mob and deagro it without worry. However if a caster had started a nuke for you and you FM it will break your invis afterwards and if they were KoS to you, they will reagro.

    Re: Fading Memories

Thanks for the answers Paeros :) Is it so that if you run out of the mob's casting range before its spell lands (eg. nuke) that it will not land on you? Or does it only work that way for players? (mobs sometimes are allowed to break rules. lol) Now I have to start deciding whether I may want to do a '/cast 1' (to activate wind of marr) instead of '/stopsong' in my hotbutton. I guess I will just make two different FM buttons, one for when I am soloing and one for when I am grouped and puller. ;)

"If you had a song playing when you hit FM you will be invis with the song still playing" Just don't do what I did and have HoS playing when you fade. The mob kept on coming and I was like, WTF??? Faded three times and it just kept coming. I was so embarassed when I saw I was still playing HoS...my LDON grp got a big laugh out of it :lol -Vis

    Re: Fading Memories

Hehe, well, if I decide to keep a song playing when fading (in my solo setup) I think I'll go for the following customization: /stopsong /cast 1 /attack off /alt activate 212 That ensures that I have a correct song playing (or none if fizzled) when faded, and also takes away extra time to first start another song manually. I always have a healing/mana song in slot 1, so that should be safe.

    Re: Fading Memories

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Mar/Replenishment be a bad song to keep up for the AoE properties that generates aggro? I don't have this ability yet, but would think a group or self only song would be the way to go before going invisible (aka fade). Just a thought. Sinfonian

    Re: Fading Memories

If somone inside the aggro range of the song got hit, then you would go on the aggro list of the mob. If no one was inside the aggro range of the mob to get hit by AE of song, then you wouldnt get on the list at all. If someone is inside aggro range already, then fading can still be useful, to get you off the TOP of the aggro list.

    Re: Fading Memories

I'm using Wind of Marr, which is a group song. Chorus of Marr is the AE version and I only have that memorised when I am on a raid and on mana-job. Also, I would be using this when soloing (to heal up faster if I am in trouble) and thus would be the only member in my group ;)

    Re: Fading Memories

Never had a problem with it since I'm normally soloing when I use FM anyway. Also if I forgot to mention it make sure all your dots have expired before hitting the FM button. An active dot will get you reaggroed too.
