ok, first off i know that other EPICS are worse but still, im currently doing Phinny. Does EQ expect to sit....errr swim in one spot for 12 hours straight? WTF? why cant epic mobs be on a 1 hour timer? Who in their right mind will sit in one spot and do nothing for 12 hours? /sigh...i feel better --Arr

Errr... cause the quest is EPIC? Yeah Phinny sucks, but it can be MQ'd. Check with your guild or friends. You never know, you may get lucky and someone will do it for you for free. Sinfonian

I got my phinny chained. The worst part for me was the amy tendril. Poor Purr...she's been sitting at the UDB part for more than a year. :cry:

SoE has said many times they don't expect people to "camp" the mobs. Phinny can be tracked from zone in, so everyday just make a quick run over there and check to see if he's up. If so call your friends and have a fish fry. If not come back later.

swap you the 80 hrs on raster for 5 months on vox/naggy without getting the drops, staying 52 for 5 months was a total pain

The title of the thread tells you a lot -- the weapons are EPIC. There are no harder quests for a class, at least in theory, and it isn't SUPPOSED to be easy nor is everyone supposed to be ableto go to the effort to get the item. Phinney being a 1 hour spawn would come close to trivializing the wizard and bard epics. And while I sympathize somewhat with those going through it, I really don't ever want to see these quests changed. They are ridiculously easier today than they were before the bazaar made scales so easy to get. I didn't buy or MQ any part of my epic. While I felt some pride in doing it that way at the time, I would never want to go through it again.

At least the bard epic is good. Without a serious upgrade most melee epics just rot in the bank even if you do get it. The Epic required so much time and was worth it. Now all it is for most classes is a little in the way of a bragging right

If you were on Povar, I could help... I'm fairly lucky when it comes to drops it seems. Only 40 hours on the halfling mask, 10 hours on the half elf, 12 hours for Raster for the epic on my monk twink and stuff like that. A friend happened to snag the spine for me and kept it in her bank for a year, so I was lucky that way. My first solo phinny kill dropped a spine. I've gotten 2 other spines in about 17 kills while I was trying to help a rogue guildie get the damn robe.

i personally think the bard epic is easy. if anything, not stressful. on eci, we have regular raids on vox/naggy with a nice set of lists and people willing to ensure fairness. took me 17 raids to get my white scale, my bf bought the red for me. most of our stuff can be MQd, single grouped or less. our hardest parts are droppable and farmed regularly. i REALLY hate how easy the cleric one is now (boohoo, sit and make money/spells/exp while waiting for shards to drop. cry me a river! try 166 hours for ragefire you punks!). and there are many other epics that could use tweaking to come down to the cleric/bard/druid levels

I am epiced now but I too was stuck at Phinny like everyone else. The 12 hours spawn is fine, I just got annoyed with the random drop of the backbone. Aside from that, Phinny is not that hard to kill with a decent group or even solo. You just have to be lucky to see him up. Now the scales on the other hand I think would be more painful if you didn't have the option to buy. Can you immagine trying to get scales the old fashion way by killing Vox/Gore/Naggy/Talendor/Nortlav. They have a 7 day spawn and the scales are a random drop. That sums to about 8 Dragon RAID chances only per month in order to hopefully see the scale to drop. On top of that, the red scale is also required for the Warrior epic.

Ive attempted phinny... I lost count, 8 times maybe? Killed em each one, died once due to lag during fite. Didnt drop it yet. I just loged on bout 1 or 2am and scraped together a crack team of lunatics together to help me. PS: If you have a problem with 12 hour pop timer, your spoiled. Bring back hell levels, double all pop timers (to make up for the people that literally used to camp phinny hours straight, over his hole, just to hang onto the camp so someone else wouldnt snipe it. Thats real EQ.

i think he meant that he spent 80hrs sitting in the arse end of lower guk killing Mino's by his lonesome. Not raiding Vox/Naggy with some friends or other raiders and then doing other things while you wait for Vox/Naggy to pop again. Camping raster is about as bad as it gets and there is no other option but to wait for him to pop.

I understand the long waits but if they made the spawns shorter than getting epic wouldn't be a big deal. IT would not be much of an achievement. I do hafta complain about SF camp. Im just a kid and i can't stay on for that long. I can understand any spawn being 14 hours or less (still along time) but camp is almost always taken so id hafta sit my guy there not knowning when hell spawn or if ill be near when he does =( oh well, i guess i won't be doing eyepatch of plunder quest for awhile.

I just wish they were updated, in that you could do a trade-in with them, making them equal with all of the PoP gear, maybe you'd even have to kill something or somethings to get the new one, but that's a shame that many epics sit in people's inventory after so much work went into them.
