Now that i'm at 30 and starting to hunt in velious, I have to make some choices about faction. For the moment i'm letting those giants in Iceclad live :p What factions are typically consdiered best for bards in Velious? Seems everyone goes for at least dragon faction, and probably good to be on the welcome side with dorfs? But then Kael has a lot of quests I hear.. not sure about bard quests though. Ug.. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think that anyone can really tell you which is best. Everyone here has there own opinion and you are most likely going to get the pros and cons of both sides - which can possibly aid you in your decission. I would say, it's all a matter of preference and where you want to go with your bard. Being ally with a certain faction can also depend on if you are a member of a guild and which faction they are striving for - afterall, if you aren't on the same faction as your guild, then you won't be able to do much with them. Keep in mind that although a pain to do, you can change your faction from one to the other. If there are certain quests that require certain faction alignments that you wish to complete, then that can certainly be a guide to you as well.

the faction changes youll get with killing most mobs is trivial and really faction at that stage is meaningless. the only point in having faction with any race is to exploit their quests, in most cases being the armor quests. when my guild did armor farming a while back we did it in the halls of testing and stayed allied with the dragons. we would still kill dragons like wuoshi and kalorek dar without thinking twice, because they barley hurt faction at all. you could probably kill hundreds of giants in iceclad before youd ever change faction levels.

Thanks all for the info. Now that I know it can be changed later, i'm not as concerned. I talked with a higher level bard on the server last night and was told that he and his guild started with coldain, killed giants to get on dragon faction, did HoT, then killed dragons to get on Giant faction and did Kael :p So i've started killing the ice giants in Iceclad for now. They are decent experience at level 30 (2% a pop, sometimes 3%). Even though it does take a while to chant-kite them down with only one chant :p Noticed i've killed maybe 20 or so giants so far and my faction HAS dropped, but still not KOS yet.
