    MPG Trial of Fear

Heads up for anyone else out there. Just tried the fear trial for the first time. Apparantly Bard AE fear no longer works. Blasted SOE for stealth changing the trials again. =(

    Re: MPG Trial of Fear

A few questions for you. Which AE fear were you using? And what message were you getting when you tried? I have done Fear as the only fearer since OOW came out, I did it on the 11th most recently and there has not been a patch since then. My guess is you are using the wrong fear. Use the lvl 26 fear, not the higher one. The higher one has never worked. The reason Song of Midnight does not work is because it is an AE fear, dot, and snare. The lvl 26 fear is simply a fear.

The reason Song of Midnight doesn't work is that it is AE fear, dispell and selos. This is an indoor zone and it's the selos part that causes it not to land. Apalling Screech has always landed just fine.

    Re: MPG Trial of Fear

I started off with the 26 one and when that failed tried song of midnight. when that failed the group kind of died :-/ Message i got on both was that Mob was too high la level for that song to work on them. It is a possible new tweak to them they have tweaked efficienct twice now that i am aware of.

That just means you had all fearless mobs. The fearable ones are light blue to me and are the maximum level allowed for fear to land. Fearless mobs have a level that's past the fear cap, and that's where you're getting that message from.

    Re: MPG Trial of Fear

I wasn't the main fearer, but when I did the trial i cast fear to test it out while targeting and standing by a regular light blue mob, and it told me too high level... either i was standing close to a fearless mob at the time or they did in fact tweak it.

    Re: MPG Trial of Fear

Our lvl 26 Fear does work as of 21 Feb.. One thing I did notice is that it didnt seem to pulse like most of our songs do. I left it running and when the fear wore off and the mobs came back I had to start the song again... (waited around 5 seconds before recasting).. needless to say being the only Fearer in the group wasnt very good... lasted only 5 minutes before cleric and Bst went down... on the bright side we got a glowing rune on the way there from the named that pops right down the hall from the trial.

    Re: MPG Trial of Fear

I've been the only fearer a few times and it works great. Screech has a very small aggro radius. It's not targetted, it's AE from you. Once a mob is feared, it's out of range. Pulsing makes no sense and neither does following them around. It's not like HoS where you can refresh it. The original fear is the one that landed and will wear off even if you just cast fear again. Make sure your worn off messages are not being lost in spam and start casting the moment you see one and watch for a mob heading back into camp and get into his face. I didn't melee much as the dedicated fearer... fear has to be your number one priority. Another thing to watch out for is feared mobs that get stuck and don't go far. Don't let your casters stand next to one. Sounds obvious, but tell them anyway.
